I'm glad Snyder's shitty movie won't be the only adaptation. Mini-series is a much much better format for it. And I remember Lindelof having a quote on the back of the book saying it was his favorite piece of popular fiction of all-time so I'm sure he'll do it justice. For all the flak he gets the worst he's done is Leftovers which isn't terrible so I have faith. I'm actually planning on finishing it soon tho OKAY CURTIS?!!!?!!
I'm kinda split on it but I mostly agree. It would be COOL to see the novel adapted properly but at the same time this seems like an interesting direction they're taking this. And having it be a 'sequel' definitely doesn't feel forced in the case of this story since it was left fairly open for that at the end
hey I watched this, pilot was SOLID. I think it did a pretty good job getting a similar FEEL to the book, although if this is leading up to a "cancer bomb" when the clock hits midnight I feel like there's definitely less weight than an all-out nuclear apocalypse like the original (of course that's not what it ACTUALLY led up to)
The squid stuff was interesting, I guess we're left to assume the US government is behind that in order to keep up Ozymandias' alien invasion ruse? If so does that mean the newspaper kid that finds Rorschach's journal at the end went to the US government with that information instead of releasing it to the public...? Seems kinda weird but hopefully they explain that a bit more
For some reason I assumed the Sheriff was future Nite Owl when he showed up in that ship, but I guess he was just...using it?
There were plenty of references to the book (obv) but I did like the nod to one of the actual good scenes of the movie with the "Unforgettable" cue
Rorschach being used as a symbol of white supremacy definitely made sense to me. I don't think he was ever overtly racist in the book but it's easy to see how some of his...bluntness could be misappropriated by these people
lol the Ozy scenes are the best, so fucking odd but seems to fit the character well. That little scene with him biting the tomato especially felt like him. And I like that he's still obsessed with Jon and that his last words to Ozy still haunt him
The Klansman reveal was uh, interesting. Didn't see that coming. I guess that explains why Angela didn't get killed if he was the second cavalry guy at her house? Not sure why he'd just still keep his robes around like that though, I guess it still could've been planted
Tim Blake Nelson would make a good Rorschach. The shot of him eating in the car seemed rip straight from the beans scene from the comic
ep 3 was good, probably my favorite yet. It was definitely the most comic-heavy ep yet, the show's def becoming much less accessible to anyone who isn't at least familiar with the original story. Which I wasn't expecting it to intertwine that much but WORKS FOR ME if that's the case
Laurie was cast PERFECTLY, she was great. I liked her and Angela's mini-rivalry

The Ozymandias stuff continues to be weird af, but probably my favorite part of the show. I was PUUUMPED to see him don his original suit, I'm now beginning to understand how Marvel/DC fanboys feel when they lose their minds over this stuff
well this show has definitely taken a turn. I feel like these last few episodes are almost a different show from the first 2, definitely feels like more of a continuation from the book than its own separate entity now. Which I do like overall but it makes me wish even more for the original to be done justice in a mini-series now. ALAS!

definitely wasn't expecting them to show THE squid in this but that was cool. SHOULD'VE BEEN DURING THE DAY BUT WHATEVER! I liked the little detail of Spielberg making his Schindler's List-esque movie based on that rather than the holocaust
The trailer for next week's with Angela tripping on the nostalgia pills looks fucking silly tbh. The episode itself has potential but the framing device for it is...woof
Also why did Ozymandias tape himself spelling out the entirety of his master plan and why was Irons playing him just as kooky as the older version who's spent years in isolation. WHO KNOWS!
iiinteresting. COMIC CONTINUITY QUIBBLES ASIDE I think that was the best ep yet

The origin of Hooded Justice's noose/mask was so perfect that it's almost hard to believe that wasn't Moore's original intention. It kinda ends there though (continuity-wise), otherwise it's kind of a STRETCH especially considering HJ was supposed to be a closet Nazi sympathizer. Which at first I thought Lindelof was taking liberties and sorta transferring that idea to other characters but apparently he was directly asked about that and he responded that "That was the front HJ had to put up to maintain his ruse" which...is hard to buy
On its own though this was some good STUFF. I do feel like the Sheriff wasn't entirely lying at the end and there's much more to him owning the Klansman robe but maybe that's just wishful thinking cuz I still am not ready to hate that character. It would add some irony to HJ killing him though, considering it's canon in this that he was a "fake" Nazi sympathizer (even if that wasn't brought up in-show)
