really enjoying this so far. Definitely some obvious Spielberg/E.T. influences. There's already a ton of pretty well-drawn characters, I feel like on lesser shows the stuff with Will's mom and with Nancy would kinda drag, but I'm even really enjoying those storylines. Felt so bad for Barb tho :(((
So far I like Eleven and the group of boys the best, those scenes are really fun. Favorite part so far was when El tells what happened to Will using the D&D board
If I have a complaint so far it's that I kinda wish the alien stuff was kept a bit more subtle. e.g. the stuff with Will's mom and the phone was great, but the scenes where they actually show the alien are a bit...eh

episode THREE spoiler

Caught a glimpse of an alien in the episode 3 opening with Barb in the parallel dimension (I'M ASSUMING) but not in the previous two episodes. The brightness kind of sucks on my monitor so I don't see much when it's dark so maybe I missed it.
Can you see something a bit more vivid when the CHUGA CHUGA smoke monster noises start going off?

I'm through episode 4 now and you never really get a CLEAR look at it, but you definitely get enough glimpses to get a general idea what it looks like
I don't really remember if there were any glimpses like that in the first two episodes, but I was moreso referring to the abduction scenes in general. I think it would be more effective if they just kinda disappeared into thin air rather than actually showing it happen (which would also make it more of a mystery if the aliens even DO exist, or if the stuff Will's mom sees is just grief-driven hallucinations). But it's more of a nitpick really
Those last two episodes were so good. I was really satisfied by how they handled pretty much every character. Especially STEVE!! I knew I liked that guy for a reason
with that said Paul pretty much stole the words out of my mouth RE: S2. After I saw Curtis post the article about S2 I had that in the back of my mind during the last episode, and I kept thinking "I really don't want them to continue this, this is a perfect way to end it". So without reading the article I was hoping it was gonna be an anthology type series. But I'm pretty disappointed to find out they'll be continuing with the same characters, it really feels unnecessary. I guess the one thing that I'm happy about is that we get to see Eleven again (presumably), but at the same time her hero's sacrifice would've been an amazing way to end her arc
Lucas was the best of the boys imo. He kept things REAL!
Holly over Hopper Boc cmon
Holly batted 100% on her scenes so there's something to be said for that (:
I honestly got pretty annoyed with Lucas during the middle of the season. He was kind of a necessary part of the group's dynamic but I feel like he was being pretty UNREASONABLE toward Eleven most of the time. But I liked him again once the gang got back together
Steve and Dustin teaming up was the fucking best. I actually was a bit nervous Steve might be a goner in the junkyard, but my boi put on the MOVES!
This Nancy/Jonathan thing is BOOLSHIT! I don't see the chemistry at all. But w/e, Steve deserves better anyways
I've liked Hopper a LOT more this season, def one of my fav characters now. And I've liked Eleven a lot less :( Why can't those two just get along!! Their fight on Halloween night made me so sad
Still wondering what the point of these Californians is, at first I thought they might relate to the season opener with the other 'mutants' but I don't think so anymore. Both p good characters so far tho, the brother is a gr8 villain
The cheese puff arcade guy and the guy that Nancy/Jonathan showed the tape to have been this season's side character MVPs 4sure
Dustin went up even higher in my book after the 3 Musketeers conversation. THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG! It doesn't need anything more than the nougat
lol I thought this season was 8 episodes like the first one was so I was VRY confused when 2x08 was winding down. That would've been such a terribly unsatisfying finale (: But there's one more PHEW
The kid that plays Will Byers is really getting to showcase his acting skills this season. He's been great, such a demanding role since so much has been body/facial acting
In one scene they actually made me sympathize with Max's brother?? I'm actually sorta rooting for the guy now, I bet he shows up and saves Max in the finale
2x07 was...strange. I like that they tried something different but it didn't really work for me. It felt like a CW drama tbh
First of all, holy hell did Steve get SHAFTED! The poor guy did nothing wrong
I guess the Californians were just there for fresh blood? Really thought there was gonna be more to them, especially after the parents got introduced. Still enjoyed them though, that showdown between Billy and Steve was great
OVERALL, I preferred S1, mostly I think because I enjoyed when the every day life aspects were moreso at the forefront with the sci-fi aspects kinda scattered in (and coming to a head in the finale). This season kinda inverted that and seemed much more focused on the sci-fi, especially in the second half. My favorite scenes in the finale was all the Snow Ball dance stuff really, so many great character moments packed into that
Also it bothered me how their random ideas were ALWAYS THE RIGHT THING TO DO (: But I guess that comes with the territory. I just wanted to see at least one plan backfire horribly so it'd seem less convenient
I always forget just how much I enjoy this show and its characters til it comes back on. What a JOY of a show! I'm a little sad it's back to 8 episodes again (tho if that means no Eleven-goes-to-Chicago type filler episode I guess that's ok)
some minor odd writing choices aside I've been really enjoying it. Starcourt Mall has been a great new setting

"I dump your ass" heavy contender for line of the season
I can't help but laugh at the assholes at the newspaper, that blonde dude has been a p entertaining antagonist. Almost 100% he gets a grisly death by the end of the season
The boyz splitting up and Lucas/Mike kinda growing past the other two has been sad. I feel like the season will end with the four of them getting together for a D&D session just like ol times
