I really liked the episode. There was nothing that really stuck out to me as being subpar, despite my expectations being low when I saw "Written by Dave Hill" in the opening credits. Jaime still being Cersei's bitchboy at this point of the arc kinda irks me still, but I'm hoping that'll change |
with him going to the Riverlands |
Ending was exactly what I expected, even just from reading the books, but it was executed pretty well I thought. For a second I thought the Jon warging into Ghost theory was happening the way they kept the focus on Ghost. I assume that was purposeful
Euron's introduction was good. I'm glad they kept the bridge part of Balon's death. I dunno why they got rid of Euron's eyepatch tho. Even though it's kinda a cliche pirate thing, it's kinda a defining characteristic for him
Bran stuff was pretty good, I'm excited for the rest of the flashbacks this season. And I didn't realize how much I missed Hodor until now
Children of the forest still look silly, but not as silly as the Three-Eyed Raven. Would've been cooler if they kept his grotesque look from the books with the tree branches growing through him

This felt like the actual premiere. Ep 1 was like S5's epilogue

I did like that Roose got killed the exact same way that he (helped) kill Robb. But yeah it was a bit anticlimactic. Especially with a character like Ramsay they could've really had him chew the scenery before doing the deed

I just watched Roose's death again and it sucks
I hate that they killed Roose and Stannis off with a whimper. Two classic characters from the beginning and both very instrumental at parts of the story. Reminds of Selmy's pointless death
I'd be pissed if I was some of these actors (: |
Yeah, plus Roose would have expected that his bastard would try this shit, maybe not this soon, but still.
Not very believable imo. |
How could he really avoid it though? If he rebuffed him it would become really obvious he didn't trust him and create a permanent rift

Is the scene from the epilogue of Dance going to happen? Kevan was the last best chance the Lannisters had of holding things together, and I think it needs to be in the show. Such a great moment too. |

I think it will, but it doesn't seem like it can be Varys. As much as the show takes liberties with time/distance, Varys going from Mereen to King's Landing that fast would be ridic
I have a feeling Littlefinger's gonna do it instead, though it remains to be seen what he's up to currently |
