I'm gonna play this tonight I think. The very little I've read/seen of it seems great

good game! Kinda reminded me of Braid meets Donnie Darko. Loved the visuals, the amount of exploration, and the story. Like you said though the dialogue was a bit ehh at times. The gist of it wasn't terrible but all the "hella" and "epic win" and shit no one ever says anymore was annoying
|
- Reported Nathan
- Comforted Victoria
- Intervened and helped Kate
- Took the blame for Chloe
At first I honestly wasn't a fan of the reverse time gimmick in a game like this since I'm a huge purist of doing everything in one go and never reversing my choices no matter how bad they end up. But it seems like some of the reversals might come back to bite you somehow, even if you tried to do it to get the 'good' result. Maybe not, but it'd be cool if that happened. Otherwise I feel like stuff like reversing time to prevent yourself from breaking Chloe's snowglobe is kinda pointless. Like who wouldn't do that? Although with that said I let that one girl get hit by a football because it amused me
also Victoria reminded me a lot of Nofo |
Really looking forward to the rest. I think it could get really good. Apparently the next one's coming out in March already?

can you imagine if Telltale used an engine like this? That'd be amazing. Especially for GOT, I'd love to be able to explore all the environments to this extent

It was in Chloe's parent's room. As soon you go in, a bird flies in and smacks against the window. When you look at it, Max wishes she could have saved it's life and you have the option of quickly going back and opening it. If you do, it'll fly into the room and sit on the closet chirping.
I feel kind of like that's going to be reverse butterfly effect and the bird's going to cause something fucked up to happen. Seems like an odd decision, but maybe that's just what they want you to think. |

I felt the same way about reversing the snowglobe. I really hope there's a (negative) purpose to rewinding to try to do the obviously good thing |

Holy fuck that was good
|
CHOICES:
- Told Kate to wait for more proof. Considering what happened with the Nathan/gun thing it seemed much more sensible to have a bulletproof case first
- Answered Kate's call. I really wish there was an option to tell Chloe "HEY KATE IS GOING THROUGH SOME SEVERE DEPRESSION RIGHT NOW LAY THE FUCK OFF". Like I spent almost the entire day with you and I can't answer ONE phone call (:
- Didn't try to shoot Frank. I didn't think I'd have to hand over my gun tho! I thought about rewinding there but I'm trying to do it as little as possible
- Didn't save Kate's life. :( That tore me up so much. I thought I was doing SO well and then I got to the family member question and just blindly said her mother, which was wrong
- Blamed Nathan. I knew it'd gain the least traction but fuck it. He's the real reason why Kate killed herself, so I couldn't NOT bring it up
I'm still pretty SHAKEN that she actually jumped. Holy hell. I haven't had a feeling like this from a game since TWD. That whole ending was incredible
Sidenote, did either of you have problems finding those five bottles? I walked around that place for like 20 minutes before I FINALLY found that tiny passage to get to the campfire. While Chloe just stands there the entire time watching me slave away
Also the butterfly effect I think I'm most intrigued about from this episode was writing my name next to Chloe/Rachel's. That's another thing I considered rewinding |

Kate's response to me telling her her mother cares about her was something like "You don't know her. She already thinks Satan has his hold on me and I'm on the fast track to hell. I think it's time to find out". Then she jumped. SO intense
I think this moment alone sets this game above most Telltale games other than maybe TWD. Telltale's never had a moment that huge that can actually have truly different outcomes |

Also the music continues to be so great. alt-J and Local Natives in this one |
I love the little moments in this game where it gives you a chance to sit down for a bit and contemplate things/listen to the music

what'd you answer for the family member question? In hindsight I would've picked sisters because mother seems like too obvious a choice, but it was my immediate reaction in the heat of the moment |

I answered father, which I believe is the correct response.
In her room there is a nice little post card from her father giving her support and showing how much he loves her and Max notes how nice he seems. In contrast, there is a nasty e-mail on her computer from her mother condemning her for the video. There really isn't any mention at all of her siblings, though there is a family photo and iirc, I don't think she even has brothers (: I might be remembering that wrong. |
|
|
I said brothers and she was like, "YOU DONT EVEN KNOW ME AT ALL!" oops!
But then she said it was her sisters. Maybe sisters and father were both viable options? |
|
|
lol that's weird that she jumped for me but not you then. I wonder if you had more of the right answers before that, or if mother was just "more wrong" than brothers? |

Yeah I erased the whiteboard every time I passed by. I don't think I erased the link though |

it's possible, but I interpreted that ending with the binders (with Rachel and Kate's names) as this being some kind of systematic thing against the young girls of the town
also
|
the more I think about that ending, the more I worry it'll end up like NICK. Where basically saving him meant he'd be alive for a couple more episodes but is so non-existent from then on that he might as well be dead. Really hope that isn't the case here
