Gonna start this up reaaaal soon I think. I watched the first two episodes but then stopped. I'm gonna rewatch them and post my thoughts each week as I go |
Yay! I think you'll really like it
I gotta rewatch this sometime before season 3 starts. I had a fairly hard time keeping track of everybody at first so I think I'd get a lot more out of it a second time through. I'm thinking about reading the first 2 books too

lol really? Arya that low? She's probably my favorite character with Tyrion and Ned closely behind. |
Although she definitely gets more interesting in S2. |
Also I couldn't stand Sansa at first either but she gets more and more tolerable as the series goes on.

Yeah I wouldn't put it on the same level as BB but it's not too far off. |
It's too bad you got spoiled on Ned's death. Even though it's a GREAT scene it's definitely far more impacting if you don't know it's coming. It's like getting punched in the stomach. |
Are you going into S2 unspoiled at least?

Most of what was spoiled for me was in season one. As far as I know the only thing spoiled for me about season 2 is
|
Something about the white walkers showing up in the final scene. Sucks that both finales plus all major deaths were spoiled for me |
|
Meh. It was a good cliffhanger but I'd hardly say that's the worst thing to have spoiled.

I've heard so much hype about that book. |
I'm really tempted to read it but I feel like the surprises are better when you're watching them rather than reading them so I'd rather wait until I've watched the episodes. But apparently there's an event called the that is fucking crazy and makes Ned's death look blase in comparison. I've avoided getting it spoiled to this point but I've read SO much about it it's got me insanely curious. |
My main guess would be that Robb gets killed because of his marriage to the medic. But I've heard it has to do with Joffrey/Sansa's wedding, so I really have no idea. |

I don't like the big albino dumb guy who helps Bran out at all. And I didn't like seeing him naked for no reason. I don't really like the girl who tried to kill Bran either and now carries him around. I think that's kinda dumb!
Tbh most of the Winterfell scenes bore me now. The only person I like there is Luwin |
Hodor? Hodor hodor hodor. Hodor :(

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of how they did Renly's death. It was so sudden that I could barely even process it.
Brienne (the tall blonde) gets more likable as the season goes on. I can see how she'd be grating at first

Onto 6
Is Theon really going against Robb and Winterfell? That's stupid. I don't like that at all tbh. Felt like such an unrealistic leap to me. He was so loyal to them his whole life and then one visit with his father where he makes fun of his clothes convinces him to betray his real family and take the city
I HOPE THERE'S MORE TO THIS! |
I hated that Theon did that, but at the same time I didn't think the character motivations were too unrealistic. Theon's gone through his whole life feeling like he didn't belong and he wants to prove to his dad his worth. Just a severe case of daddy issues!
Agreed so much RE: Arya and Tywin. Those scenes were the highlight of S2 for me

I actually didn't like Blackwater as much as seemingly everyone else did. Mostly I had a problem with the scale. It felt too small with pretty much everything taking place on that one little beach. Instead of 10000s vs 10000s it felt more like 100s vs 100s. I realize this is completely due to having a TV budget but that still doesn't change my opinion! I actually enjoyed the scenes |
inside the "safe room" with the women more than the battle itself |

I like both seasons for different reasons, but I think I'd give the slight edge towards S2. Ned's storyline definitely was the highlight of S1, but I feel like S2 did a great job at expanding the story. The only storyline I didn't care for was Dany's. I definitely preferred her S1 arc. Her entire S2 storyline can pretty much be summed up as "she loses her dragons, she gets back her dragons". I mean really, besides the part about Jorah securing a ship at the very end, there wasn't much else that happened.
And I really enjoyed Arya in S1 but her storyline in S2 was infinitely more awesome due to the Jaqen/Tywin scenes.
ALSO, I agree with Dylan about Blackwater. That was actually the lowlight of S2 for me. I liked Tyrion's battle speech, some of the Hound stuff, and some of the stuff with Cersei, and the wildfire was p. cool I guess, but other than that it was pretty meh. |

ALSO I liked all of Theon's stuff a lot! I mean, I hated what he DID and want to see Robb kill him, but I found it all very interesting. This scene is one of my favorites from the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5eyJin4R18 |

It came out of nowhere and the actor isn't outstanding. They didn't show him even remotely displeased with life in Winterfell enough for his betrayal to work much at all.
And I didn't like Dany's S2 plot at all but I liked the setting and some of the characters. |
|
|
I think it had much more to do with him desperately wanting to impress his people rather than getting 'revenge' on the Starks. I don't think he was necessarily UNHAPPY when he was with the Starks. |
