lol why isn't it called Battlefront III? I guess a different company is making it, but still a bit confusing to have another game with the same title (:

I'm pretty excited for this. Battlefront I & II are probably my favorite games ever. So many memories from those games. The only thing that makes me apprehensive is that a new company is making it. I just hope they can do it justice! And they BETTER leave splitscreen in there

Yeah I'd be upset if they did away with third person mode. I always used that

YAY @ 3rd person mode and especially splitscreen

boo @ no classes. Also I hope there's a lot more maps than what was listed. It'd be so lame if they made a bunch of them DLC

Tried it for a bit, p fun...as a shooter. Still not sure how it'll hold up as a Battlefront game though, it almost feels like they should've just named it something else

The two maps that I played on (Tatooine and Sullust) were pretty dull and small. They LOOKED good obviously but there wasn't much to them, pretty much just one winding landscape. Hoping they're saving the better maps for the game, but eh, I'm not too hopeful

And are ALL the command posts in this game just gonna be those escape pods? That seems extremely silly

Right. I'm hoping they'll have more variety. I wouldn't buy the game at full price if all I got was the exact same modes just on different maps. I don't have any urge to buy it at full price right now even though I had fun. I wish they would've had more than three modes available. I'd like it if survival mode could happen with more than 2 players too. I'd have fun with Left 4 Dead style campaign maps.

I also want better vehicle control and wouldn't mind a bigger variety of weapons. I never played the other Battlefronts so I have nothing to compare it to, but it not really feeling like one is the sentiment I've been seeing around.

The previous Battlefronts didn't have a huge variety of weapons, but each class would have their own unique weapon (battle rifle, rocket launcher, sniper rifle, shotgun, etc) which would present some interesting strategies on some maps, deciding which class will work best at any given time. Whereas this one kinda just combines them all into one and you can pick up whatever

BASICALLY I just wish they would've called this game something else because it really seems to have little similarity to the first two games. And the game seems fine on its own but I think it's always gonna pale in comparison to the other two for me

Yeah I don't have a problem with DLC if it's ADDING quality content on top of the game (New Vegas and BioShock Infinite are good examples of this) rather than selling shit that should've been in the original game. But I think that's what Curtis meant anyway

I let this install throughout most of yesterday on my PC, only to find out my graphics card is too shit to run it. Game won't start.

Can't say I'm bothered though. I was stoked about this game when it was announced, but when I learnt EA were making it I figured they would end up fucking it up.

Those of you who are playing it, how does it stand up to 1 & 2?

in short:

bad:
- Maps are way worse/less interesting. Plus from what it sounds like, even WITH the DLC it's gonna have far less maps than the originals
- No local splitscreen (at least on PC, I dunno if that was already the case in the originals tho because I had it on Xbox)
- No classes
- No command posts (technically the escape pod thing on Sullust is similar, but you're just fighting for one at a time so it's kinda like a CTF hybrid)
- Not a huge fan of the random pickups. I liked how they did it in Battlefront 2 where you unlocked things based on how well you were doing

- Not necessarily a bad thing, but the health is now auto-regenerating like any other modern shooter. So instead of all the scrambling around you'd have to do to find health when you were low, all you have to do is hide for a few seconds. I don't think it's necessarily better or worse this way, but it definitely changes the gameplay a lot

good:
- still has third person mode
- sound effects are p awesome, especially for the thermal imploder and when you're inside the shield
- graphics are very good

The reviews are pretty much exactly how I thought they'd be after the beta. Amazing to look at, but almost no depth whatsoever

Probably just gonna wait a while til it goes on sale or they've possibly released a GOTY edition. I'll be trying it out on Saturday though
