That interview scene was great. I always thought Thornton has done a pretty good job but it was nice that he had a scene where he didn't have to play his usual monotone character. I'm scared for GUS now that he's crossed him. Revealing that he knew his real name was NOT smart!
and lol, the crickets at the end... how the hell did they get TENS OF THOUSANDS of crickets just from pet stores in the area? (:
I agree about Molly. I feel like Molly is so clearly supposed to be like the main protagonist of the film that it's a big shock to kill her off and move the focus entirely to Gus.
Exactly what I was thinking. Definitely a great way of subverting expectations even though I'll miss her (if she is dead)
RIP Dennis Reynolds :( That was such a great scene
Seriously though where'd the fish come from at the end? I didn't get that
God, that opening was amazing. Lester's becoming a full-fledged villain rather than just a bumbling sadsack. I love it
I loved the way they shot Lorne's shootout
Also even though Molly dying would've been interesting, I'm really glad she's not dead. C'MON MOLLY SET EM STRAIGHT! I don't think the police chief's ever gonna be swayed though after being MOVED TO TEARS by Lester's story (:
oh man that ending. I loved seeing Lester visibly turn back into a wimp. I was hoping it'd end with Malvo turning to LOOK at him but whatever. I wonder if he's still partnered with the deaf guy a year later!
And obviously they're drawing parallels now to the movie with Molly, but I'm sure they're gonna subvert expectations somehow. Still not sure I like the decision to make it such a close parallel tho
Funniest part of the episode for me was Bill's reaction to "he was hugging me...and crying"
Deeecent finale. It didn't wow me nearly as much as the other episodes (especially the last several) but it was satisfying at least. With how dark the show's been at times it was kinda surprising that at least Gus didn't die, but I was relieved. Lorne's death was good. Him jolting awake and smiling made the scene
Only thing I was kinda missing with this finale was seeing what happens with CHAZ (: And what DID happen to the deaf guy?
Behind True Detective this was one of the best first seasons I've seen. Guess more shows should try having a single writer! I hope this writer does another season. In one interview I read he said he was open to it
