first ep was p good. The setting is the strong point. It was especially easy to feel immersed considering it's currently -5 here!

story definitely has a very different feel than the other seasons already. I didn't realize they switched showrunners for this one

yeah the dialogue definitely hasn't been the best. I couldn't believe they ACTUALLY dropped a "in English, please!"

I actually didn't mind the dialogue in that scene you referenced tho, what bothered me more is that Foster's character's signature line is apparently just a callback to Cohle's "start asking the right fucking questions" line. I'm not too keen on ANY of the connections to S1 (which there are quite a few already), even though I don't mind it when other anthologies like Fargo do it. I guess it's because of this season's shift in tone? Like there was nothing ACTUALLY supernatural about the Tuttle mystery in S1, but in this season you've got actual ghosts and shit like it's nbd. Hard to buy that these two seasons exist in the same universe. I'm gonna choose to believe they don't!

I do like the new stuff on its own tho. Still a cool setting and interesting mystery, even if the characters/dialogue leave something to be desired
