Wanda I'm p sure that has less to do with just "breaking the rules" and more to do with turning an entire town into living puppets for weeks on end against their will

swiiing and a miss! Mostly. It did have more Raimi DNA shining through the muck than I expected at least. Complete with cheesy lines from bystander extras, extreme close-ups of girls screaming, books of the dead, and talking zombies
Mostly just didn't care about most of what was going on plot or character-wise which is definitely a problem. I think it all stems from the multiverse honestly, the bigger things get the easier it is to lose touch with individual character arcs. Likely gonna become more and more of a problem since this phase of MCU is clearly shifting towards that
What I did like:
|
Best scene of the movie by FARRR was Scarlet Witch going full villain and slaughtering the Illuminati (lol). Lots of fun deaths in there. I really liked that they had her go fully evil in this movie although predictably they scrubbed that all clean at the end
I know there's been rumors for a while but Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic was something I def didn't see coming, surprised I didn't stumble on any spoilers for that. Kinda dull first appearance but I'm sure he'll be back and I can see him being good in that role |

also - wish we got any full scenes in any of the multiverses they showed in the "falling" scene. They could've done some fun stuff with that ala Spider-Verse but instead we were limited to 0.1 seconds of each of them. Kind of a missed opportunity to have more fun with it

agree with most of that but

I will say Olsen's cheesy ass dialogue was actually a highlight for me cuz it reminded me of the Raimi trilogy. Although probably less intentionally campy here and she could've hammed it up more ala Dafoe
Scarlet Witch as the heel was like the one thing that really worked for me here tho. And despite all the people whining that it "RUINS HER ARC IN WANDAVISION!!" I felt like this was the very natural progression for her after enslaving an entire town of people
I too would've loved if they made her the new big bad |
