But do any of you guys speak / know anybody who speaks (or more appropriately, reads) Japanese?
My entrance essays for grad school heavily feature discussion of a Japanese author, but I was only informed just now that grad schools are strongly against using translations for your assignments - quotes have to be in their original language, or you can't use them at all. Since I'm not a fan of having my entire essay boned by this fact (and it goes without saying that Google Translate is not an option here), I need to get in touch with someone who can help me track down the original-language versions of the passages I want to quote. | |
That seems very pointless... I assume the person reading your essay can't even read Japanese themselves? |
I KNOW. Essentially it's a retarded situation. If I don't have it in Japanese, I'm not good enough to go to grad school, and if I do, then nobody can read it. |
