So, for one of my art classes, I was forced asked to create a Twitter account.
Since I've always been of the mind that Twitter is essentially the equivalent of simply shouting the minutia of your everyday life to random passers-by on the off chance that one of them might potentially give half of a crap, I've never bothered to muck around with it, and I went into it with the mindset that I'd just be deleting the frigging thing the second that this term was over.
Things got worse when I completed my signup. Apparently, Twitter is so drunk off its celeb connections that it now has started assuming that nobody uses it except to stalk famous people, and it was legitimately giving me pointers on how to do so. Completely disgusted by the idea, I of course made it my mission to follow nobody at all, which royally pissed off the Twitter gods, and I'm not allowed to continue with the account tutorial until I pick five famous people to be annoyed by.
However, this got me thinking. What if all of us decided as a group to try Twitter-stalking a different celebrity every month? Once a month, we'd all directly tweet a random celebrity, asking them a question, telling them we think they suck, whatever, and see if any of us could get a response. Whoever gets the best response gets to pick the next celebrity - and if nobody does, we all just make a suggestion and random.org it.
At worst, it'd be a colossal exercise in wasting time, but if it works out properly, it could make for some hilarious times. What do you guys think? |
