I'm really curious to look into how this was filmed. The quality/camera felt very different than most movies around that time. It just LOOKS different.
This was very difficult to keep my attention. You'd get a little bit of life within a confrontation but then the movie would kind of fall back into "we're going down the river, we're sitting around, we're carrying wood!"
I was really looking forward to the group slowly losing their minds and turning on each other but we really didn't get any of that (minus the mutiny). It felt like the movie ended right as it could have began.
Not sure if this will grow on me in the future. As of right now, I give it a 5. | |
And The Terror on AMC, Jacob did you think of that throughout this?? I couldn’t stop. Aguirre reminded me of you know who. I really like these journey into madness stories where we learn who the main characters are through like, process of elimination as the others die |
Yea, it definitely reminded me of the Terror. In a way, that might have hurt the movie for me. Compared to the Terror, this movie feels so much slower without as much tension and payoff. Minus the lead, characters aren't as developed and sometimes feel bland.
I did watch a interview about the production which definitely gives more life to the whole movie. I understand why it's revered, I just don't think it aged well for me.
