First off, I'd like to pour a drink out to everyone that made it through this movie. We're part of an elite group now.
Echo the novel statements, I wasn't sure how to describe the dialogue until I saw you guys mention that.
For me, this movie was like going to a fancy restaurant where they promise you you'll get a great steak but have to wait 3 hours. Even if the steak is good, it's still a very long time to wait and ultimately the payoff doesn't feel worth it.
I gave it a 4. I don't see myself coming back to this movie much like i did with Sing Street and Victoria and I don't think I could ever recommend this to anyone. I just wasn't that sucked into the movie. I didn't really connect with the characters like I felt I should have and ultimately felt very drained by the end of the movie.
I will say that there were a few hidden gems though, I thought the movie was shot very well. I love the shot where Aydin and Nihal are fighting, Nihal sits next to a mirror where you see Nihal's reflection. I also enjoyed the money fireplace scene because it felt like the only time you felt genuine tension. Unfortunately though, that's where I have to end my list of pros.
