So, I actually really enjoyed this movie.
I think the whole one take aspect is cool but I got to the point where I stopped paying attention to it. It didn't have that "look at me, look at what we're doing" which is what I feared it would be. Instead, it felt more like I was pulled in and part of the experience, and instead of focusing on the "one take trick" I was more focused on the character's and their relationship as events kept occurring.
I was pleasantly surprised by the acting and felt like that was the true driving force to the movie. Victoria and Sonne were incredible together. The piano scene was definitely my favorite part of the whole movie as well. There's a shot (whatever you want to call it) when Sonne gets up to answer the phone and it pans up to Victoria right as a tear rolls down her chin. WHAT TIMING!
I think that scene and the sequence of them going to the roof really helped create a strong foundation for the relationship of those two. They did such a great job in building a connection in such a short time that it was believable to watch Victoria follow Sonne into the whole thing.
It definitely was long but I actually didn't have trouble being bored. Most of my favorite scenes were early in the movie so I was never waiting for things to pick up. I definitely enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. 9/10.

I loved each time the camera pushed in real close on a character's face and you could tell exactly what they were thinking, like Sonne during the piano scene |
Yea definitely. Sonne and Victoria were really great at wearing their emotions on their faces. It really partnered well with the shooting style of the whole movie. |
