I forgot I was bleeding out. It's very likely that I had a bandage that would have saved me. I think that's usually a starting item. That was also more meat than I could actually eat for a week.

There's a bit of lag with the video. That wasn't happening when I was playing.

....I make the exact same mistake as the last time. Sort of. I could have easily survived looting that wolf for that amount of time in the earlier builds, but as I noted earlier in the video, the newest update made freezing a lot more costly towards condition. I froze to death without my other stats dropping low enough to worry about, which is something that didn't happen before. I would have survived that harvesting in the earlier builds, I'm pretty sure.

I tried to do a serious playthrough and was making some progress and survived at least a day. Then I decided that video was pretty boring, archived the save, and tried to do a new run today. I don't think I'm even going to bother uploading. You can pretty much guess exactly what happened if you watched those two videos.

This time I didn't survive the fight. They readjusted the wolf fights to make them deadlier. Because that' what we needed (:

It feels like my options for recording this game are to either show off like an asshole and get eaten or play it rationally and learn to edit videos so you don't have to sit through 20 minute videos of me carefully looting someone's toilet

Apparently the winter/Christmas update today introduced difficulty/"experience" settings. Pilgrim turns off wolf attacks. Maybe I'll last more than a day while trying to record it now (:

Much cooler additions: Some buildings will now randomly spawn at the start as burned out husks that canot be looted. That's really fun

It's not a very intensive game at all really. The graphics are gorgeous but pretty minimalist, and the game is overall pretty slow and steady. I think it'll run alright on most machines.

Weird. I wanted to look up some info on this game and found a wiki, but most of it is about story and character stuff, which isn't really a thing yet. I think the wiki is based on old kickstarter plans and concepts. A lot of stuff seems kinda MEH though, like they wanted to make Telltale's Walking Dead without zombies and with snow. Doesn't really seem to suite the game as it currently is.

I guess Story mode will need story though (:

It's a very unforgiving game, and tends to have a bit less outright action to it. It's fun and challenging for me but it's a different type of game.

Of all the games I've played that are in early access, I would say this is the one that's the most affected by updates and it's alpha state. The balance is really tricky and there are usually a few hotfixes just to rebalance things after updates. Because its so unforgiving and you have to make due with very little, very small changes they make can majorly change things.

An update on the story campaign. Forgot that was gonna be a thing!

Sounds like they basically bit off more than they could chew with early access, and realized they didn't really know what to do anymore and ended up completely revising their plans a few different times. They have a clear plan now, but it's going to be quite a while until they get there and they don't want the sandbox to stagnate in the meantime so they're focusing on both. But they aren't going to give any timelines for it anymore because they can't meet them.

The story mode sounds neat though, and I'm happy they're doing a female character now too for the story mode. That was one of my hopes because Sandbox female voice >>>>>>>>>> Sandbox male voice.

I haven't played this in a really long time but I might give it a try soon. I booted it a few times to try to do a LP but recording would always fuck up building interiors.

Apparently for Halloween the game is doing an experimental event where the game is in eternal night, full of demonic wolves, and other little thematic changes. Sounds fun!

oh man! Apparently this went full releas earlier in the week, with story mode and stuff! I sort of stopped following along on progress for a while, so I didn't know it was coming.

UNFORTUNATELY it sounds like the full release is extremely buggy! There's been 4 patches since release, and the most recent patch notes mention that more are on the way. It's a bit silly considering the game was in alpha for 3 years, but I guess the problems are with the story campaign, which wasn't released in alpha at all.

Still, I might give this a go tonight and see what it's like.

Looks interesting! It's 2 episodes at release, with more coming later on. Not really sure how I feel about the way the style translates to human characters but I do love the style.
