It's hard no from me, dawg.

There is so much different music coming out nowadays, people just tend to focus on defining modern music as Top 40s. Which is popular for being so easy to get to but tends to get repetitive after a while. I love me some older music but I think we're making bigger strides towards more diverse music nowadays, you just have to look for it.

also if anyone uses Spotify and isn't listening to the Discover Weekly playlist yet, do it. I probably only save like 1-3 of the songs (out of 30) per week, but it's THE best way to discover new songs/artists that I've seen

I agree with this.

And if you take the time to actually go in and like/dislike the songs they give you, they only get better over time.

Release Radar is also a good one. It takes the new music from New Music Friday but gives you the ones that they think you'd be most interested in based on your taste.

It seems like the people that like contemporary music, listed a lot to spotify. Those of us who aren't as big of fans, don't.

I listen to spotify very rarely, as I only have it installed on my work laptop for use during late-night grading sessions. Most of you probably listen to it via mobile devices a lot more frequently. I'd hate to pay for your data plans!

This is late but!!

On Spotify you can download music onto the app and it doesn't use data from your phone to play it. It's how I listen to music on the train because it doesn't use service. You have to have Premium for that but a family plan is only $15 for up to 6 people. It's not 2 bad.
