That moment where the hand suddenly grabs Krisha’s face was the spookiest jump scare of all time, move over Citizen Kane |
Scared me worse than any moment in The Witch!!

MY THOUGHTS.
I think the movie definitely set a tone and stuck with it through the film. The music was unnerving to say the least and the scene of Krisha pacing in circles in the kitchen was almost mind-numbing really. I think the ending was really rough and at first I wasn't a fan of it, but I really think it followed the rest of the story much better. Watching her slowly relapse through little interactions was REAL hard and then when it came to the head, I got a lil' emotional. The scene with the sisters in the bedroom/bathroom was really, really good. I think that'll stick with me. As well as the turkey moment. It was really beautifully shot imo.
Interesting that the cast was played by real family members, I enjoyed the relationships and they felt natural. I think it helped them get into the groove of things because the movie didn't really feel like it was acted that much? It just felt very genuine which could honestly come from a place of reliving the real situation. It was definitely one of my favorites we've watched but it was SO heavy, I don't know if I'd want to watch it again.

After much debating with myself, I have decided that it is a 7. Only because I do not think I would recommend this movie to anyone. Not because it isn't good but just because it's just a very niche movie.

I knew nothing about this movie other than your brief summary in the other thread. I honestly thought it was going to be drama with other family members, not her own sobriety. I didn't even connect the dots that he was her son until the final scene there. I thought she'd done something MUCH WORSE so I was relieved when that happened.
