A 5! Love that.
After that, I'll attempt to hide in the tree. Do I need to roll for that as well?

Echo peeks his head out of the tree, their mind not being able to focus on anything other than the shiny thing in the tree across from them. Hopping down, they swing over a branch and onto the ground -- landing on their feet with a soft thud. They take off in a run over to the tree, stopping at the base of it. They take a look around before looking up in the tree, trying to discern how high up the object is.

Echo had faced a lot of enemies in his life and none had phased him much, but the Dryad caused him to take a step back for a moment. He'd been caught by surprise, cursing under his breath for not being more aware of his surroundings. He debated running for a minute but Echo shook his head.
'I'm no coward, I never back down from a fight.'
Echo unsheathes his sword and moves forward, swinging at the trunk of the tree with as much force as he can.

(I'm going to assume that misses. LMAO.)
Swinging his sword down against the tree, he feels a pain ricochet through his arms as his blade simply bounces against the bark. He looks up at the monster, swallowing back the sinking feeling in his stomach.
'I've never turned away from a fight.. but there is a first time for everything!' he thinks to himself, before turning around on his heel and sprinting back to the tree he came from.
##Echo runs 10 feet back East
##Echo uses bonus action to dash 15 more feet
Arriving back at the tree, Echo tries his best to run around the trunk and make distance between him and the living tree.

Echo takes the space he's made to jump back into the tree, using the lowest branch to grab onto and swing himself into the leaves. Settling in on one of the branches several feet off the ground, he hugs his body up against the trunk and pulls out his crossbow.
##Echo uses a bonus action to hide
Peeking his head out, he looks through a clearing of leaves to get a peek at the creature closing in on him. He takes in a deep breath before moving his crossbow in front of him, aiming down the sights and taking a shot.

I forgot I had advantage because I'm hiding!!
Also, for this, would you say the Dryad is surprised because this is the first ranged attack I'm making on them after running away? The way it is described it sounds like it counts, but I just want to make sure before I unleash the hellfire of dice.

My argument would be that she would be looking for me on the ground and I'm shooting from above her now. And in my PM it says, "a surprise would be they didn't see you hide". But I won't fight it if you still disagree, IDM!

Peeking out, Echo can see the Dryad looking around at the base of the tree. He takes this opportunity to narrow in his sights on what seems to be the creature's face, unloading his bolts in her direction.
