lol brace yourself for weird sentence phrasing and endless details derailment, tacked in thx to the wonderful commata....here's me talking about a possible GTA V cutscene, including a flashback and also explaining camera angles and shit aside from telling the story...I gott focus some more, get more structure, but the potential is there. here it goes:

"Btw I said it'd be cool to see flashbacks in CUTSCENES. Just to shed light on certain people's backgrounds, earlier events in their Life. (* see below for some brainstorm example) Those flashbacks could add depth to the characters, maybe explain the stance they're having on certain issues or whatever. All I said is that I would like to see (not play) little flashback sequences. Just a 1 or 2 minutes pieces. Maybe to give a story-twist, or to make a decision of a character understandably. It might not be necessary, but as I said I liked that flashback editing effect a lot where the background would change and the characters stood in the same frame, where the camera would be at the same angle, only cloth and the background changed. Eye-gasm ;D

I don't see how that would require 'scripting a level in the game and having it play like an action game' - it's just visual icing on the cake. A "creative" approach to writing and unfolding certain story/character aspects, being added to what I'm sure of will be a great and ambitious story, even without flashbacks.

*Now spinning on the brainstorm idea. Something that popped into my head when thinking of something to refer to in order to make you understand what I mean, 'cause it seems you have misunderstood me.
*NOTE: it got way longer and somehow more detailed than I had planned. Sorry for the novel ;D

So....Michael, Trevor and Franklin are about to do a heist. They fly in a chopper towards their destination. It's a sunny afternoon in Los Santos. Trevor flies, Michael is in the passenger seat of the cockpit and Franklin is sitting in the back. Michael and Trevor start to talk about something. They have an argument about something not relevant as to what they're about to do. Franklin in the back just shakes his head. He is holding a rifle in his hand. He' doesn't listen to what the two argue about, he drifts off and looks out the window.
*here comes the camera drive editing magic and flashback sequence*
You see a camera angle from inside the chopper, basically from Franklin's ego perspective. He looks outside, see the orange skyline, then looks down to the buildings on the ground, maybe the desert or the ocean. So the camera looks slighty down and starts to zoom slowy towards the city. Now the camera switches and is outside the chopper, looking at Frankling from a slight upwards angle (same from before only from the other direction), slowly zooming towards him. The argument Trevor and Michael are having is just some background mumbling accompanied by the sound of the chopper's rotor. Another Switch to Franklins perspective, as the camera slowly continues to zooms towards the ground the red/brown-ish looking desert is in somewhat of his focus. Another switch and the camera is pointing at him from outside the chopper, slowly moving closer to him. You see the window and his head looking out of it, kind of emotionless....and then you hear a rumbling sound start to emerge. Trevor and Michael are getting louder arguing on about something irrelevant and so does the rotor of the chopper... the camera keeps slowly driving towards Franklin....aaaand, SWOOOOOSH

The next shot you see indicates it's night - and the camera, at the same angle from the last shot, is now driving away slowly from a head looking out of a window. The camera slowly drives away from what seems to be a young Franklin (7 ot 8 years old), who looks out the window from what we assume to be his room, down onto the street. You can hear people arguing. Voices coming from down the street in front of the house he's in. The camera keeps slowly driving away from him, you start to see the outlines of the window. Now the camera switches and shows young Franklins's ego perspective, looking down on the streets as the camera slowy drives towards the noise. You see 6, 7 people standing on the curb, having an argument. The camera drives slowly towards the group standing under a latern which sheds a little light on the spot. You see dice & dollars lying on the ground. Now the camera switches again to outside, at the same angle only from the other direction, and is slowy driving away from the window Franklin's looking out of, kind of emotionless, down onto the streets. The argument outside gets more heated. The camera keeps slowly backing away from young Franklin at the window and switches again. Now again we look down onto the streets from young Franklins's perspective as the camera slowy drives towards the streets - when it stops to drive and stands still - as one of the men pulls out a gun and shoots another. The others watch the body drop and then the man grabs the money and they walk away from the scene, leaving the body behind on the curb, blood leaking onto the streets in front of young Franklin's house. The argument was over. The camera now makes an abrupt switch and you see Franklin'ss dad rush into the room to see if he's okay. He then tells him never to choose the criminal way of life, to live a decent life, to only use a gun to protect himself or his family etc., he tries to teaches values and all that noise. Young Franklin nodds absent-mindedly, his dad hugs him.

I could add another long paragraph with detailed story and camera angles including forward and backward driving movement, but I'll try to cut it short. It all ends with young Franklins looking outside the window again as he see the Cops and Ambulance arriving, standing over the body. The camera slowly drives towards him, staring out the window, kind of emotionelss. Then it shortly swtiches back to young Franklin, watching the ambulance picking up the body, noticing the the red pool of blood. Then it switches again, driving slowly closer towards him staring out of the window when.....a rumbling sound emerges, slight noises of what assembles a rotor of a choppe, aaaaaand....SWOOOOOSH*

Finally, no more weird camera drives ;D

We're back with the camera angle outside the chopper to look at Franklin staring out the window down on the city, the red/brown-ish dersert. Next cut you see him getting back to focus. He looks down his hands, holding the rifle. His face is still emotionless. And then I don't know.....epic continue epic continue. R* will bring it, sure about that. But that's not the point. The point is, that such a background information, even if only 1 or 2 minutes long, could add a lot of depth to the character, and somewhat explain how he came to be the man he is today or whatever. It would be interesting to see stuff like that, and also, it is amazing to look at such camera editing effects.

Soooo, no extra creating gameplay, just an awesome flashback sequence to add that little extra awesomness. That's all. Damn that took time to write up. But it's exactly what I was tryin to say I think, almost. ;D

hosting off-site solves all problems...and if you make a bookmark next to FE you cannot NOT click on it once or twice a day and possibly become inactive
