It's tough, because a lot of older horror films are ruined by what are now pretty cheesy effects but which then had some extremely creepy elements that stuck with you. Classic like Children of the Corn were pretty freaky, up until the cheesy glowy thing that eats the people on crosses at the end. That fucking kid in the hat is freaky as hell, though. It never hurts to have a Steven King short story as your basis either.
Misery I think really captured the Stephen King novel.
I'm still gonna have to think of what movie really kept me from going to bed. Psycho had me watching out of my shower curtain a lot after watching it. | |
When I was a kid, Children of the Corn was scary, but so were the omen and the exorcist..
The scariest movie of my childhood was "The day After", though. |
The Day After is big time, but I don't think people would be scared of it like that anymore,.
But Children: "HE WANTS YOU TOO, MALACHI!!!!!"
