(I liked hockey swimming and badminton tho, anything where I didn't have to deal with large or fast objects flying at my face. Related: I was a dodgeball champ) |
I imagine you as that person who stayed near the back, never threw a ball, but was impossible to get out because you were a dodging pro

Soccer - Still play and have played for 18 years
Football - Played from 5th-7th grade. When I got to high school, had to pick either football or soccer because they were in the same season and I chose soccer. This officially ended my football career.
Volleyball - I have played in a few leagues growing up and then played in one again this last year. It's probably my favorite sport that I never officially played. I enjoy it a lot

In HS, my friend and I were on the same gym volleyball team. There was this quiet, nerdy girl who was named Crystal (though, until we graduated, we thought her name was Olga for some reason despite having multiple classes with her all throughout HS), and she was on the other team.
We were kicking the crap out of the other team, so my friend and I decided it would be cool if right when he was going up for a spike, I would get on the ground and he would jump off my back to get serious height. He decided to do it and he drilled the ball so hard.
Olga (aka Crystal) yelled "GOT IT!" and bent down SUPER far to get the ball...which then drilled straight into her face. We were huge douchebags and instead of asking if she was ok, we started rolling on the floor laughing probably half uncomfortably for drilling someone in the face and half because she seriously got down so low to get the ball and completely misjudged it which got her a volleyball at extreme speeds right to the face.
Her glasses flew. | |

thats 100% the case
but its better to be a little more towards the front so you arent tripping over the people in the back who suck at dodging that hide back there |
I've admired many people like you from the sidelines

I on the other hand hated dodgeball because:
1. I'm always a target
2. Baseball players throw too hard and depending on the balls used, it's painful
3. I can't NOT try to catch any ball that comes my way. The thought of getting someone in and eliminating someone is too juicy I can't help myself
I got more people out by kicking balls at them instead of throwing
