I feel like it's more thriller than horror, it uses suspense a lot, doesn't really use shock/fear IIRC.

then that's the answer, isn't it? If you're afraid of dinosaurs (even though you shouldn't be), you'll consider it a horror movie. :P

Who th fuck isn’t afraid of creatures that are15 stories tall? Don’t be Igor. Can you slay 10k rats too?

I just think they're portrayed the wrong way in Jurassic Park, I bet they'd be chill.

I like Jaws, and I can't stand Horror movies, ergo, Jaws isn't a Horror movie.

I’m afraid it doesn’t work that way!

You have your definition, I have mine.

So all films you dislike are horror movies?

People still have an irrational fear of sharks while swimming because of it.

Anaconda was equally as terrifying as a child, but nobody is running around afraid to go swimming because of giant snakes. Also, nobody would consider Anaconda a horror movie.

From that reddit thread Curtis posted:
"The only difference between Jaws and a typical slasher film is the fact that the killer is confined to the water."

I can't believe there was an argument that Alien isn't horror.

All of these thoughts were so innovative they needed their own post.

It's funny because Alien is strictly horror.
