Just got back from it! I definitely liked it better than the first. It didn't drag as much, and not as much overbearing CGI (though there still was more than I CARED FOR). Some of the action/countless escapes got pretty repetitive but again, not as bad as the first Scattered thots + Bombur(?) in the barrel was the best part of the movie. That was amazing Tauriel was ugh. She ACTUALLY had an "I almost shot youuuu!! :P " moment towards Legolas after I joked about it to Curtis (: For the Big Bad of the trilogy, Smaug wasn't really all that IMPOSING. The first scene with Bilbo sneaking around, trying not to wake him up was GREAT and very suspenseful, but after he woke up...eh. I would've liked to see him kill at least SOMEONE so there's actually a reason to be intimidated by him. I mean he overthrew an entire kingdom and he can't hit one of 10 people with fire in an enclosed room? Meh. I'm sure shit will get more real in the next one but I really think he should've hit someone to raise the STAKES Also the ending was pretty bullshit. The original trilogy, while it was one long story, still had good CLOSURE for each chapter. Even the first Hobbit movie did. This literally just ended in the middle of a big scene. I'm guessing that stems from the fact that the originals were all one book each, and this is stretching a small book into three movies, but still. DIDN'T CARE FOR IT! And now I realize almost all of these are criticisms (: I DID LIKE IT THO! It was far from being as good as the originals (and I never expected any of these movies to amount to those) but it was definitely an improvement.

The barrel roll was definitely the best part, I agree. The Hobbit is a children's book, yo and each volume of LOTR are two books making it six books (: Also, I lol'd at the Legolas feels.
