Two episodes in, this is enjoyable so far!
|
I'm kind of thankful that Lost came and went and did its thing because shows like this no longer leave me with the expectation of things wrapping up. I don't know how much of this will be explained but I'm not really interested in that considering the journey is enjoyable.
Going in with the expectation of a mystery not getting completely resolved allows me to enjoy the plot a whole lot more. |

really enjoying this so far. Definitely some obvious Spielberg/E.T. influences. There's already a ton of pretty well-drawn characters, I feel like on lesser shows the stuff with Will's mom and with Nancy would kinda drag, but I'm even really enjoying those storylines. Felt so bad for Barb tho :(((
So far I like Eleven and the group of boys the best, those scenes are really fun. Favorite part so far was when El tells what happened to Will using the D&D board
If I have a complaint so far it's that I kinda wish the alien stuff was kept a bit more subtle. e.g. the stuff with Will's mom and the phone was great, but the scenes where they actually show the alien are a bit...eh |

Caught a glimpse of an alien in the episode 3 opening with Barb in the parallel dimension (I'M ASSUMING) but not in the previous two episodes. The brightness kind of sucks on my monitor so I don't see much when it's dark so maybe I missed it.
Can you see something a bit more vivid when the CHUGA CHUGA smoke monster noises start going off? |

Eh.

I don't really mind so much. I think I'm strung out on enough IS IT OR ISN'T IT supernatural/extra-terrestrial stuff at this point. In a way it's refreshing that the show isn't pulling any punches.
Right out the bat it's holding its hand up and saying yeah, there's telekinesis and alien activity in the show. I think by clearly establishing the rules early on at the very least it won't lead to a jarring moment later on. Less disappointment all round. |

Episode 4 done

I really love the tone of this, very watchable. Favourite characters so far are Hopper and Jonathan. Great ending with the science lab as well.
What year is this meant to be set? They're not explicitly clear on that and I quite like it. It feels like 80s/early 90s. |

Finished.

Great show. Very impressive, perfect length and pacing.
I'm actually a little bummed there's a season 2. It feels like a complete story in its own right and I don't feel it warrants continuation. Almost don't want it to be bogged down by that. It'd be cool if subsequent series' were their own self-contained stories too, maybe even with a different cast; location; sci-fi elements.
Kind of like a twilight zone serial thing. All seasons sharing one common universe but focusing on their own mysterious events. That'd be really neat I think. |

If there's one (two) reason(s) I'm really happy for S2 it's because of Hopper and Eleven. Both are such great actors/characters and I'm glad there's gonna be more of them, specifically Hopper who always has bit roles in things so it's great to see him as a lead character, especially one he's doing so well with |
With regards to Hopper

Totally didn't get that scene where he stepped out into the night, had a smoke and got into the back of a car. Thought I'd missed something. |
