Didn't feel like it furthered the plot at all, just felt like it established the position of each major character. Almost like a 50 minute long recap tbh.
The Brienne/Sansa thing furthered the plot but it was incredibly rushed and clumsy without being given time to breathe. Probably for the best considering both of those plot threads have run pretty thin now.
The Dorne thing was godawful but there's plenty of commentary online that goes into the whys and hows of that better than I could summarise. I've shut down the Dorne parts of the show entirely from my brain and I basically view them in the same light as I'd view intermissions anyway.
The Dany plot moved things along slightly but was a bit silly and ham-fisted. I don't really think she's that interesting a character in her own right (at least on the show) and can't really carry much in the way of plot depth on her own (hordes of nameless Dothraki redshirts don't count).
Castle black was cool, especially the opening shot. I can't really grumble too much at any of that.
It wasn't terrible but it didn't really feel like it added much to anything, I guess. It's important sometimes to move chess pieces around the board but given how inconsistently that's handled at times (see Brienne wandering across everything relevant to her interests, The general teleportation rules that seem to exist in Westeros) it felt all a bit pointless.
I didn't leave feeling either fulfilled or overly annoyed, so middle of the road I guess? |
