Here are the ground rules and how this is going to work.
Setup
- Every contestant will be pitted against one another in a random, tournament style layout.
- Both players in each matchup must then agree on a date/time to face-off (I'll make a thread for this once the layout is up). Different matchups may run at exactly the same time, it's irrelevant when it happens.
- A game will be selected from the "pool" (games I've picked) at random and handed out at the start of the alloted time-slot.
- Both players then have 24 hours, from that time to submit a "final score". The actual challenge will vary from game to game and more specifics on what will be scored upon will be posted along with the game.
- Upon reaching a satisfactory score, players will screenshot that score and submit it to me (except in the case of the round where I play, me and whoever I play will submit it to a third party who will be specified at the time)
- Players have as many attempts as they like (during that 24 hours) to submit their score. They may submit as many scores as they like, but be wary that once both players have submitted a screenshot of a score, the round will end and the winner will be declared.
- Since players won't know one another's score until after the results are declared, it's totally at your discretion what constitutes a "good score". Play until you get bored, frustrated, or take one measly stab at the game and submit whatever pitiful result you get.
- Once all players have faced off, the round will end and the losers will be eliminated. The winners go through and face each other off once more.
Now onto the formalities:
Rules
- No photoshopping results or cheating the game in any way shape or form. Since you won't know what result the other person got, and since you don't know what constitutes a good score (the score tables on these sites are usually full of hacked game scores) there's little point. Besides which it totally ruins the fun. It's about the challenge. If you suck at the game, you suck at the game. No hard feelings, take it for what it is.
- Feel free to trash talk, bluff and comment on your efforts in your matchup thread once it's created. In fact, I encourage this! It makes it a lot more fun.
- All rounds must take no longer than a week. If a player doesn't show by week's end, or doesn't agree on a date/time that player will be disqualified. I don't want this to drag and drag. (I can extend for extenuating circumstances, just let me know).
- If no score is submitted by the end of the matchup timeslot, you will be disqualified unless there's a very good reason (please explain it to me if there is).
- If you lose, be a good sport and lose with dignity. Nobody likes a sore loser. If you win, be as brutal as you want. You kicked that loser's ass. You're winner!
- Any undisclosed methods of cheating are forbidden. Just play the game and submit an honest score. If you're found to be cheating, you're out of the contest and any future ones. It sucks for the other players.
And one final note:
Though I'm competing as well as hosting, I won't know my own matchup until the timeslot I agree with my competitor. I'm going to give this a fair run. It'll all be games I've played before but that doesn't mean I'm particularly good at any of them. You have my word as a HOPEFULLY respectable host that I won't cheat. I want the challenge to and there's no glory in cheating. If I lose, I lose. I can take it (I fully expect to tbh).
Any questions? Feel free to post them in this thread. I'll randomise the match-ups once I've got a pool of games together. It'll probably kick off tomorrow night.
Understand? No? Doesn't matter. You'll get the hang of it when it starts.
tl;dr version: Choose when to play with your opponent, play game, win/lose, don't cheat.

One final note, I can't guarantee to be on during the time you start so please allow 4-5 hours either side in case I don't show up on time. Since you have 24 hours, it shouldn't make that much difference (none of these games will be time consuming). | |
