I think Chris is a victim of editing ... I'm sure he is talking about himself that much, but there is most likely someone else interacting with him.

i agree with u Colby, i’ve noticed the sob story trend too and it seems like everyone cast has that sob story in case they win/will be someone they focus on like with Sunday who was a cancer survivor but we literally never heard about that on the show. This might sound awful but with this sob story thing they have Im surprised we don’t have a survivor or relative of a mass shooting in usa yet. This era of survivor is not my favourite

Sob stories are in all reality TV.

Extreme Home Maker was a show that started out helping more the everyman type. After a few seasons, you had to be a single mother, have a child with a uncurable disability, lost your job, etc. to get on the show.
