Conspiracy of silence is what allows these shits to get away with it.
I don't get it, sexual abuse seems to be an inside joke with a lot of the people in the know, and none of them name names. Nobody comes forward.
No doubt because they fear their power, but srsly. What would stop a bunch of high profile celebrities who knew someone was dodgy all banding together to call them out?
don't get it. |
Look at people like Tarantino. according to him, his GF told him about Weinstein, but he just kept his mouth shut because it allowed him to keep making movies. That's how this shit happens.
There was a scriptwriter who heard a girl say she was meeting with Weinstein and he warned her to be careful. She told Weinstein about it and dude's scriptwriting days were done. |
Wow, he tried to help her out, and she rats him out and get him fired.

Dadd are you actually Igor's dad? Because if so you probably shouldn't be gobbling his nuts. |
Nah, just enjoying this discussion between two reasonable adults

You think we'll see a Roman Polanski situation with Weinstein?

How often does a woman force herself on someone? Can't be too high a percentage.
I agree with Zersch | |

Go to a supervisor first, if they sweep it under the rug, then go to the cops. If you can't prove to the cops it happened, then at least you can you can tell your story in some shape or form or help others who find themselves in similar situations. |
And if it is your supervisor? Or their supervisor? Or even levels above that?
And when you go to the cops and they say "Without proof we can't do anything." and they don't take down a report and they imply that maybe you wanted it because of the way you dressed that day.
|
I think in that scenario, you pretty much have to change jobs.
I don't work in a corporate environment, but do they do incoming training for female (or males I suppose) to train them to take precautions so they won't be exposed to risk?

The instances that stand out in my mind are the female teachers sleeping with the male students. It doesn't seem to meet the same standard of outrage as if it were the other way around.

It does among women, but men tend to make comments like "Was she hot?" or "That didn't happen when I was in HS." and shit like that. So I think you are seeing part of the problem.
|
That comment was really in response to Igor's flip response to Zersch saying "teach men not to rape".

Yep- and throw your livelihood to the wind. that's part of the article on "consent" I posted up earlier.
In our environment, they hit us pretty hard with the "harassment" training at all levels, and I received additional special training when I hit the executive level. I know of one perv we had running around and he is no longer working with the firm.
I do know that I'm much more conscious of what i say and do in terms of both sexes in the office.
|
I would think of simple steps a male executive could take, ie: don't be alone in a room with a female employee, always have another person present. That would protect everyone.
