I can't wait for this movie. I am so fucking stoked.

And I like the Hitchhikers guide movie, because it's very different from the book. Douglas Adams had a hand in writing the screenplay though. So it's a good different. They have their own little flavours.

I love the LOTR movies. Extended versions is the only way to go.

I'm sure I'll be watching extended Hobbit as well.

I cared because it pretty much just reminded me of gandalf's death. Not got me hyped for supermans. Are scores really that hard to make for a minute long trailer when youre a million dollar company?

it's possibly a trilogy but I'm thinking they'll just release extended versions of the movies on DVD and blu-ray.

I don't think i'd mind a trilogy but they would certainly need to rebrand it as something other than just a hobbit movie... since it's going to be so much more appendices stuff from LOTR.

I was just about to post that link.

... I dunno. It's too soon to say but my goodness that will be a long trilogy for a 300 page book and some Tolkien footnotes.

I still have faith in Jackson, but jeeeeeez.

I just thought of something, this has got to be the most frames for a single film project ever.
48 frames per second, twice as many as usual, for about 9 hours.

That's 1,555,200 frames of film! In 3D no less. I do not envy the special effects department.

well yeah it will have tonnes of extra stuff.

I dunno, because I really felt King Kong was too long, and that was a long adaptation of a much shorter movie. But at the same time, Lovely Bones was way too short in my opinion and could have had it's plot breathe a bit.

So I really hope there is a lot of extra info tying Hobbit to the LOTR trilogy, but I also hope that it doesn't bury the plot of the original book.

Still looking much forward to seeing it. In 48 fps... I must know if it makes it better or worse

I don't think it's so much copping out, as it is Weta being more experienced in that now and thinking they can make it work on a larger scale... what with their work on Avatar, Rise of the Apes, etc.

especially considering the movie is 48fps meaning twice as many frames have to be edited digitally.
