I'd say it's worth it. It's kind of short but from what I can tell, the characters on there will be involved in Season 2. So may as well get to know them.

I always search everything and look into things way too much.

Lee going HMMM at the random barrel in the beginning of Chapter 3 really intrigued me for some reason and made me think I needed to do something with it.

The characters in the DLC will have a major role in S2 from what I can tell, so yeah I would definitely play that first. It's pretty short, you can easily finish it in one day.

The Stranger yells at you about the others taking the supplies whether you did or not. Though the first time I played through, I did steal the supplies and felt horrible when I saw that station wagon parked at the hotel. The choices really don't change all that much in Season 1 but it still does it's best to make you feel like a horrible person when you seemingly make the wrong one.

Clem herself. The 400 Days DLC is a spin-off with original characters but they intertwine into Season 2's story arc.

It auto-saves after each chapter, which are all relatively short so it shouldn't ever put you back too much.
