Wow, so very sad to hear that news Curtis.

I don't know that anything can be done over the internet, but let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

3M is horrible also. Holding the public hostage for their own benefits and the Presidents bent over and took it instead of telling them to either do it willingly or be forced to do it. And I’m speaking about the masks and shit.

It's not that simple, but that sure is the optics they're going with.

Oh yeah they’re real, Lamps. There was a protest Friday at the governor’s house here in MN.

Wikey you’re right that it’s complicated and people are going to suffer/die either way, but it’s highly irresponsible to protest in large groups when all that we are being told to do is avoid such activity. Just like all these white people have been saying for years at other protesting groups, now they get a taste of it themselves - this isn’t the right way to protest this issue. Find another way.

I completely understand the people protesting and think they have a very good reason to do so. But they should be social distancing while doing so. Bunch of them getting together like that is what I think is rly stupid.

In my country they are sticking to the strict measures on restaurants and bars for way too long imo and there’s no hope for them at all.

I am with you on this, and primate's points about other ways to protest. I'm all about that. Speak your mind and voice your concerns. The decisions made are definitely a grey area of balancing and unknown amount of lives at stake and also the amount of jobs/businesses lost. There are obviously different opinions on how this should be handled. However, it's irresponsible to be gathering all together to possibly spread it around to everyone at the protest. They all are going to make what they don't want happening last longer if they spread it around now.

Some of them were also purposefully blocking ambulances from being able to move

Yeah this is not ok.

I think one of the biggest things to watch is whether the science shows that the virus will mutate. If that happens, this thing is never going to go away. It'll be similar to the flu, where you can build up antibodies and get the flu shot every year, but that doesn't necessarily protect you from getting it. (I'm not saying "this is just the flu" or anything like that, just comparing the mechanics of how it may operate if it mutates.)

I agree with a lot of what Wikey says. But, since we've taken this path we also have to be careful how we go about "re-opening". We've prioritized protecting life by sheltering from the virus, so there has to be a balance struck between continuing to do that while also trying to get people back to work, prevent widespread increases in poverty (we already struggled with this in many places), etc...

Meanwhile, I'm still fascinated to see how Sweden's approach ends up working. Still too early to tell I think.

I too am curious how the Sweden approach will work out after we look back on this.

Here's a little secret they don't want you to know:
The economy is made up, all your worries are easily solved by guillotines.

How do we get Merc in charge?

I would love for someone to make a venn diagram of those idiot protestors and the people who said Colin Kaepernick needs to stfu about free speech and take a damn seat. I bet there is a lot of overlap...

I think it would just be a circle..

So, a bit of news from me. A coworker I spoke to on Tuesday over the phone called me telling me he was sick and might have COVID. He tested positive Wednesday. So they put me and the crew under quarantine (with pay) for 14 days.

This is now where it gets interesting. When you’re around someone who tested positive, they want you to quarantine for 2 weeks. Well, another member tested positive and he’s a Union Rep and they just had a pick for our Department. He was around everyone unless they were out sick or inactive. If they follow the protocol, the entire workforce of Track Department and Structures Department is now in quarantine.

Let’s see if they will quarantine an entire department.

Keep us posted on how you're doing! Will be interesting to hear about if everyone goes on quarantine, though I can't imagine that will happen.

Congrats on the rent control. Not sure what that even is but if you’re paying $2k less than he could charge then that’s a big “hell yeah!” From me.
