I, for one, would be uncomfortable if a guy in prison touched my knee.

I also think it's bullshit that Brock Turner only got a 3 month sentence (or whatever it was).

There is far too much leniency for guys like him within the criminal justice system, but it's also fucked up that women will cry foul (specifically when the alleged perpetrator is famous or rich) looking for a paycheck.

My biggest beef in that type of scenario, is that we have a system set up to protect victims identities, but why not for the alleged perpetrator? Innocent until proven guilty, but if the story is out that you are guilty before all the information is sifted through, then it has already ruined your life. Of course, it is far worse for a woman to be raped than a man to be falsely accused of rape, but there should still be protection to both parties until the facts of the case have been determined.

If I was in prison, a guy touching my knee wouldn't be one of my highest concerns.

Well yeah, but being up against the cell wall would shortly follow.

Mittens, you and I need to accept the fact, if we end up in prison, we are going to smuggle the meat. Don't fight it. It will only make it hurt more and them enjoy it more.

For sure, so my best gameplan is to avoid prison at all costs.

You could say that for any alleged perpetrator no matter what the crime and that would be fine, but victims should absolutely have their identities protected by the legal system. I don't think it's an all or nothing thing.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't be protecting victim identities at all.

Thankfully I am in a position where I cannot even imagine being raped and how difficult that would make all sorts of social and romantic interactions. There needs to be a societal change where women are not seen as objects for men's enjoyment and pleasure. In my opinion this is where all of these issues stem from.

Did you choose to fire his ass?

Serious question - how would the answer change if Jim were talking about someone who wasn't another employee?

Since it was a work-related event, even though after-hours, and it was heard by other employees, it would have been considered something he and HR would need to discuss, since the activity could reflect on the firm. More so, other employees may see me as condoning is actions if I don't address it, which reflects on me as a manager.

Of course. I think it's pretty easily answer D in the situation you drew up. BUT, what if it was the exact same scenario and Jim were talking about someone who wasn't a coworker? Would you act the same way and talk to HR?

LOL- I did. Non-coworker wouldn't matter- it's a work event. As I said- if he said it about someone else, and I did nothing, I am implying support for his actions.

Gotcha. I would tend to agree, but I would guess more people would let it slide if it was about someone who wasn't an employee.

I'm not saying that at all, what I'm saying is that we're steady progress and there has never been a better time to be a woman in all of recorded history.

Nothing changes overnight and for people to expect it to is completely unrealistic. Look how long it took for shit to change for black people and like gay marriage and shit. Steady progress is a good thing.

I agree that steady progress is a good thing. I believe that steady progress only happens by consistently challenging the status-quo and looking for ways we can improve as people.
