Tempting, I am pretty hungry and it is breakfast time.

After wrestling with theorems all night, it was 8 mafia and 1 Serial Killer in the Overwatch Mafia, which had 23 people. Through top shelf mathematics nothing short of some A Beautiful Mind shit, that means there are definitely 9 mafia members, 1 serial killer, and 2 self-aligned survivor lovers (the incestual Ice Climbers, no doubt). What did the Metal box do again?

The Metal Box encases the character's body in metal. It has the following effects: - It lasts about 12 seconds, however the time limit decreases as the user takes damage, especially from fire attacks like Bowser's Fire Breath. - User becomes heavier (about 3 times more), thus received knockback will be reduced. - Slightly decreases jumping height, since the user is heavier. - Doubles a character's falling speed, making recoveries harder (in Melee, it's much harder to recover than in Brawl). - Reduces speed slightly. - Attacks performed by a metal character deal slightly more knockback, although the damage dealt remains unchanged. - Removes any character's voices (although, as sound effects are still retained, Mr. Game & Watch is unaffected by this).

In summation,

Having not played the game shouldn't really effect much so everyone should be good to go. It's just a fighting game with Nintendo (and a few other) characters. For today the Beam Sword is likely offensive, and the Metal Box defensive. Party Ball is a random party in a ball, outlined elsewhere by Malion.

If you choose an item, can you also vote to give the smash to someone?

It specifies foregoing your lynch vote to go for an item, so I think you can still vote for the Smash.

Every day it seems like everyone will be casting two votes-

One vote either for a lynch or for a chance at the daily item, and a second vote for whom to give the Smash Ball.
