Mal picked my fave Death Cab song, which Vern apparently hated. I listened to that song so often in high school and my dad DESPISED it. He called it the "You Were So Condescending Song" and would put on this nasally lil' voice when he said it. But I love "Title and Registration." Except for the line about the glove compartment, because what should it actually be named? I think it was probably accurately named at the time it was named.

I've gotten to the point where I can identify who chose what song just by listening and not looking at the list. For example, if it's a little twangy it's almost always Havo's. If my ears start to bleed within 10 seconds, it's Spin's. If it's a little weird it's Boc's. If it's incredibly weird it's Merc's.

If you want ear bleeding music, I can probably find some ear bleeding music.

Same, I've been pretty busy without enough time to listen through the whole way yet. Maybe tomorrow.

Finally got around to start listening to this playlist. I'm only about halfway through it, but this might be my favorite playlist so far?!? We'll see how it finishes, but I'm pleasantly surprised so far.

I still need to vote, so I'll make sure to listen to them all again tonight and get my votes in.

Gangstagrass "Long Hard Times to Come" -- Song reminds me a bunch of an old Cowboy Troy/Big & Rich collaboration. Surprisingly, I don't mind me some 'Hick Hop'.
Pop Evil "Work" -- Obviously I'm going to enjoy this one, since it's my pick, but there is the static in parts of the song that is kind of distracting and sounds off.
Nightwish "Nemo" -- I'm a big fan of female-fronted rock/metal groups and I love the combination of the vocals with the driving music. This song was decent, but it sounded like she was trying too hard to go into a falsetto for me, it was a touch piercing at times.

Metric "Combat Baby" -- I'm not sure when this song came out, but it sounds like it should be on the soundtrack of a movie like '10 Things I Hate About You'
Death Cab for Cutie "Title and Registration" -- so that's what a song with 2 chords and only one vocal tone sounds like
Ozma "Maybe in an alternate dimension" -- like someone else said, give off a very Weezer-esque vibe. Decent, but not as good as the original.
Pond "Fire in the water" -- holy synthesizer! Decently catching song...kinda grows on you.

Bonny Light Horseman "Deep in Love" -- oh, what, where am I? Oh, sorry, I fell asleep. I don't remember much at all about this song.
CocoRosie "By Your Side" -- not my cup of tea, but not terrible either
Sly and the Family Stone "You Can Make It If You Try" -- don't have anything creative or witty to say for this one, other than it's maybe a touch too repetitive?

Overall, this was one of the most consistently decent playlists I think we've had in a while, imo. While there weren't any songs I'd consider epic, there also weren't any terrible songs that I would refuse to listen to a second time. I voted for Gangstagrass, Pop Evil, and Nightwish.

What happens when a song wins?

It moves onto to the quarterly list, and the winners there move on to the yearly final list, where we select our favorite songs of the year.
