Hong Kong is property of the British Empire |
Umm, not since their lease ran out in 1997.

I'm glad it took a pandemic-level event to get people to think about washing their hands.
Meanwhile, I'm over here telling students to pick up and lick rocks (mostly for the fun of it).

wait where are you seeing that? I thought they were just gonna play games without people in the stands for a while |
NBA just announced it |
I want to see them cancel March Madness. Vegas (and the NCAA) would riot and Trump would be forced to step in and open it back up.

Fuck that. March madness is my favorite sporting event. |
The first weekend of March Madness should be a national holiday.

So VA claims state of emergency and shots down all schools for 2 weeks. My kids private school say "fuck that. Were staying open" |
My son's daycare said the same thing yesterday after all the local school districts shut down for 2 weeks, only to cave in today and also shut down for 2 weeks.

I can find bottled water easier than tp right now it's crazy |
I feel like... generally speaking, this is always the case though? |
I haven't been in many situations where I've actually gone pt before something happened. But empty shelves of tp in every store, even gas stations, amazes me. |
At this point, the sheets of toilet paper are worth more than the sheets of paper money used to buy it.

It is for the best Lamps, I don't think anybody should be travelling anywhere for the time being. My dad is going on a ferry to the Netherlands this week lol...
The preparations for this, and the measures already taken in some countries such as Italy suggest that this is far worse than the numbers currently indicate. I don't really get what's going on, so few are dying, but we're acting like it's the new Spanish Flu.
I'm not being callous, it's shit if anyone dies of this, but the response seems completely overblown...unless it's much more serious than we realise. Maybe they're concerned about the possibility of it mutating? Am I missing something here? |
Areas are "shutting down" because the hospitals can't handle everybody getting sick at once. They can handle a bunch of people getting sick slowly over time, but not all at once. So if places shut down, it slows down the spread of the virus (it doesn't stop it, just slows it down), and allows the hospitals to try to stay on top of the situation the best they can.

I read somewhere that Italy's numbers are possibly overblown, but didn’t read further so not sure.
I did also hear they don't have the manpower to nurse all the infected old people so it could be that as well.
Probably a bunch of unreported cases. |

His family wants him to move home from CA to NY....... so wtf. No rent check and leave me with it all? Man............ |
There are probably people who can't get an apartment right now because of rental offices closing down - you can probably get a replacement. Just make sure they're corona free. |
I refuse to live with a rando-roommate. Hellllllll naw!
I've had like 6 different roommates in my current apartment (Boc and Merc and the Icelandics have met a couple of them!)
I am hoping he can find a way to make due as he doesn't want to leave LA
He just applied for unemployment, so.... we'll see I guess.
Trump also just passed a bill yesterday that allows late rent payments.... BUT, that doesn't necessarily help me or remove any of my anxiety. Especially when my landlord is trying to evict me as of a couple days ago for other shit |
I've been renting for almost 20 years now (don't ask), and never once had a landlord try to evict me. Maybe try being a better tenant?

I didn't stock up on anything, thinking I was leaving tomorrow for a week at the mother-in-laws. We just decided today that it's probably not safe to go visit her older, health-compromised mom, at this moment, especially since I work in education (large groupings of people) and she works in the medical field.
That means I have no real stores of food or supplies, and the stores here aren't looking great on resupplying anytime soon. Most importantly, I'm down to two rolls of TP in the house (of 4), and haven't seen a single package in any store in town in almost a week now. Yay me!

I'm not sure if its because I'm home all the time now, or because other people are, but I've noticed a whole lot more people walking their dogs, and letting them take a shit in my yard than I recall before. Guess that's what get for living on a corner.

Day 6 of the quest to find TP was interesting yesterday. I ventured out into the 'burbs, thinking that if any of the Kroger's would have supplies, that one would be most likely. The place was picked cleaner than a chicken wing at a southern barbecue. I think I came home with some AA batteries and a 6-pack of beer for the wife.

What kind of beer does she drink? |
This time, we picked up some Guinness, as she's planning on making corned beef and cabbage later this weekend (she had to work on St. Patty's Day, so we never got to make it sooner).

I don't disagree. However, I think most beer sucks.
