Have you tried mozzarella on a burger?
|
Naw |
Try it melted on a burger. With teriyaki glaze.
|
Or, make a pizza burger.
Top your burger with pizza sauce and melt the mozzarella. Maybe even get crazy and add pepperoni (either on top or in the burger meat).
I liked going to this pub-like place in Tucson that served what they called the Italian burger. It was made from ground italian sausage, dipped in marinara sauce, topped with melted mozzarella cheese, and you could add on mushrooms, peppers, or onions on top, if you wanted.

When feeling crazy, I make the following at home:
Make two ground beef patties, then stuff crumbled bacon, grilled onions, and shredded cheddar cheese between the patties.
Sear in a cast-iron skillet, then finish in the oven to cook to about medium and to make sure to melt all the cheese in the middle.
Serve topped with roasted new mexico chilis and a little ketchup/mustard.
