As Darkness falls on Peanutsville, all of the children are dressed in their best Halloween costumes, ready for trick-or-treating. Together, they make their way from house to house, collecting all of the sweet treats from their neighbors and friends. Well, all but Charlie Brown, who only manages to collect rocks and the occasional piece of old taffy.

Having full bags, they return to their homes to deposit their loot and remove their costumes. After this, they all make their way back through the pumpkin patch on their way to Violet's party. It's here where Linus stops the group and shares with them the story of the Great Pumpkin.

"On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises out the his pumpkin patch and flies through the air with his bag of toys for all the children!"

"Linus, you are silly, that story is a fake", yells Patty. The rest of the group nods in agreement.

"I will wait here all night and I will see the Great Pumpkin this year!" exclaims Linus, "you guys can go on without me."

"Mom said I couldn't go to the party if you didn't go, so you are going, and that is final!" shouts Lucy, angry her little brother is causing a scene.

The group finally gets Linus to relent, and he agrees to go with them. "I still believe in you Great Pumpkin" he says quietly under his breath.

After the party, the children all return to their homes and get a good nights sleep. As they gather in the morning, Linus begs them to go back to the pumpkin patch, as he's sure the Great Pumpkin has left him a gift for being such a faithful believer.

When they get there, they find that there is indeed a gift, but not the one anyone of them was expecting. Laying face down in the dirt is poor Shermy, covered in bunches of pumpkin guts and there are broken pieces of pumpkin all over the place. Its evident that he was killed in this spot.

"Who could have done such a horrible thing?" asks Marcie.

"Maybe the Great Pumpkin was retaliating for all of your disbelief in him" Linus says, saddened by the gruesome site. It's entirely possible, he thinks, that his hero could have been the force behind this brutal attack. No, he thinks, there is no way...right?

im317 has been lynched

The day started off with all the children in shock over the death of one of their classmates, Shermy. While none of them were all that close to Shermy, the fact that someone killed him in their pumpkin patch was pretty disturbing.

It didn't take long for fingers to start pointing at members of the group.

"Franklin, you must have done it!" exclaimed Eudora, while Snoopy just growled in Franklin's direction.

"I didn't kill Shermy, but I bet Marcie did! She's always quiet", replied Franklin.

The group seemed to split down the middle with half pointing at Franklin and the other half at Marcie. Finally, Franklin steps up and says, "it couldn't have been me, I help people".

With this information, the rest of the group snaps to attention and looks to find a new target for their suspicion, landing on the dog sitting in the back taking a nap.

"I bet it was Spike", said Marcie. "Only a person who was up all night committing this awful crime would be so tired today!"

The group surrounded Spike and tried to force a confession out of him, but alas, he didn't say a word. Finally, Lucy and Eudora held him down and Rerun swung the shovel as hard as he could. Poor dog, he never stood a chance.
