Alright, since I rarely watch these I figure you are the people to ask...what would you recommend for beginners? (aka the 12 y/o is asking to watch scary movies :P ) |
You should start him off with classics... The Shining is one of the best around. Psycho. Rosemary's Baby. None are particularly graphically either (atleast compared to modern stuff). Blair Witch project. Scream.

Remake was (unsurprisingly) horrible thoe.
If people haven't seen REC they should. It's Spanish but it's probably he best zombie horror I have seen. REC3 thoe was easily the worst sequel I have ever seen by a fair distance... And that's saying something given how many awful sequels are out there.

I liked REC a lot. I've pretty much given up all hope of new horror movies being frightening but REC was pretty intense in the last act and that's one hell of an accomplishment for me. REC 2 wasn't bad either, but I think I'll stop there. |
I wouldn't, it completely ruined the franchise for me. It's so incredibly unrelated to the previous ones I legit checked I had downloaded the right movie.

And despite bein nothing like the previous two it wasn't even good at what it attempted to be. Which was some weird kind of karate romance movie with zombies. It was honestly so strange lol.

And it switches from found footage to a normal film. But I just recall the hero of the story doing all this random karate crap (like Jackie chan level) out of no where while in high heels.
