I really enjoyed it. I thought they explained and executed the time travel thing very well..... until the end. Two major plot holes IMO.
1) Curt mentioned this but Captain America at the end. While I can kind of see his reasoning. In his mind the world is saved so he can spend time with his girl. But it goes 100% against the time travel rules they set up. They could have just shown like the compass or whatever it was and like a note. I think they foreshadowed it enough in the movie.
2) how did aging work? Like Hawkeye’s children and Spider-Man obviously didn’t age in the 5 years. Obviously it’s kind of a heavy topic for avengers and maybe they’ll use the cop out in Spider Man that all the main cast who is returning to high school all got snapped away but I hope they address that.
Also are we now supposed to believe Gamora is still alive? Again would kind of break the finality of the soul stone but I’d imagine she’ll be back.
Things I liked:
Thor was pretty funny. Liked the dynamic with him and Rocket. Not sure I love him being in the guardians, but will be interesting.
The battle at the end was super dope! Really cool action scenes, very well done. The scene where everyone showed up was awesome. I did actually get the feels from the black widow scene. With the movie coming up, I thought for sure it was going to be Hawkeye even though that would be dumb, the person with the kids survives, so I was shocked when she died.
Tony’s funeral choked me up a little bit even though I’m not super invested. They got me.
Thanos is just an awesome villain, and all the callbacks from previous movies like Natalie Portman!! Was just awesome.
Also I laughed so hard at the credits when Vin Diesel got a special intro for Groot, when much more relevant actors and actresses in the movie did not. He literally said his one line, one time. |
