I preordered.
Hopefully the launches aren’t as buggy as Batman. But maybe I’ll wait a couple days to start. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

Really enjoyed the first episode. It was fun to interact with a lot of characters. It was probably longer than it felt because I broke it up into three sittings but I definitely finished wanting more. Also after the achievement for finishing part 1, I thought that maybe there would be 6 like the older games, or atleast 4 so that kind of snuck up on me as well.
|
AJ and I on the road again. I am not sure how the timing all lines up with the game. Clem was what 10 when this started? 12 when AJ was born, and AJ has to be atleast 7 or 8. Plus the younger kids Tenn, and Willy don't seem that much older than AJ which creates kind of a plot hole. WHATEVER, thats fine I'll ignore it.
The train was kind of a boring start, anyone who didn't kill the couple was pandering to the game 100%. No one in their right mind would send a kid into a dark room instead of just killing two walkers for the key. It might make a bad impression on AJ, but come on lets be realistic.
I like the whole kid camp thing. Kind of an interesting twist. Everyone seems pretty nice! That Willy kid is probably my favorite. He cracked me up big time. Pretty cool set up though. I let AJ sleep under the bed because I didn't feel like making him do something he didn't want to do. Same thing with the piano.
I went with Violet and Brody. Violet and Louis are my two favorites from the camp so it was kind of like which side character to I have to deal with. The fishing was kind of fun. AJ catching a big one was cool.
I will ask how is 1 rabbit and 4 fish not enough food! I feel like that could have been made into some sort of stew by the chef guy! I was so pissed when Brody and Asim left and it was just Louis and Violet. I thought for sure one of them was going to die. I pushed the thug out the window. Screw him.
OH MAN Marlon beating on Brody. Damn flashlight to the head. Can't believe that killed her. F that dark cellar scene with the scary Brody zombie. Too much for me. I should have known something was up when both twins died on the same adventure, but I didn't put the pieces together until it was too late.
I choose Louis over Violet. I do think I have a closer bond with Violet but I know that Louis is in love with me so I choose him. I instantly got scared for his life. I actually picked the wrong prompt and Marlon shot me in the head. Interesting that just word prompts can get you killed.
AJJJJJJJJJJ what did you do. I didn't want to let Marlon leave so I told him he was going to be a prisoner and AJ shot him in the head. Ughhh I don't think this is going to be good. I wonder if I hadn't killed the thug AJ would have let Marlon live.
OH WELL it was fun. Biggest complaint was the damn zombie attack scenes. They ate my lunch. |

Finally did it. I thought it was a little underwhelming but the fact episode 3 is supposed to be bonkers got me excited.
|
I am probably going to ruin AJ. I kind of told him he was justified for killing Marlon. I don't want to give him the wrong idea, but Marlon was a dick and while maybe it was a little too far but I wasn't going to scold him for it because we had literally pushed Abel out the window.
Lilly, it took me a second to connect who it was. I was a total bitch to her. I let her help me up but other than that I backtalked her the whole time. I tried to kill her every chance I could even though I figured it wouldn't work .
James was pretty cool, but yea in hindsight leading him to the camp was probably a bad idea. I am thinking it'll be a cameo like Jesus/Glen was in the first two seasons but we'll see.
I followed Violet instead of Louis and we ended up kissing. Though the constellations game was annoying as hell. I don't mind Louis but his idea to work on the piano instead of scout our defenses was pretty stupid. I did save Louis over Violet though. I kind of panicked. Hopefully she's not too pissed. I figured if either one could get out on their own it would be Violet. |

Oh man WHAT A RIDE.
|
-I mercy killed Abel. I do think it showed AJ being a little more considerate. I was pretty kind to him, let him smoke his cigarette and what not. It definitely kind of changed my opinion on them. He was still a dick, but I feel like his case was OKAY.
-I showed respect to James' request. I WASN'T Crazy about this part. I echo what you guys said about it being a bitch to complete. With those invisible walls and what not. I definitely called him an idiot though when he showed me the barn. I am glad I didn't when AJ started spewing that nonsense about wanting to turn into a walker if I get bitten.
- Named the bomb Mitch's Masterpiece. Again kind of a no brainer. The party was fun, until it wasn't. I wish Violet was there though, might have been better.
- I told AJ not to attack Dorian and let Louis get his fingers chopped off. I don't really know why I did it. But ultimately I didn't want AJ to get hurt or have something happen to him. That scene was really INTENSE.
- I told AJ to shoot Lilly. Lilly deserved to die? I understand why James doesn't want AJ to go hard, and if I could have killed her I would have but I wasn't going to give Lilly the opportunity to do something else.
Overall THOUGHTS:
- I echo the sentiment about the first third being pretty boring. Though I do think it fleshed out the bandits as being not quite black and white evil. The scenes with James was pretty stupid.
- The scene when AJ said he didn't want to live without Clem was rough. Like I just don't know whats going to happen in episode 4 and I don't know if I am going to be able to handle what happens.
- The party was fun. I lol'd at Willy's chronic masturbation. Though I am still kind of confused on the timing of the series as a whole, and how old these kids are. With AJ being atleast 6 or 7 years old, and I believe he was conceived after the walker outbreak, this has been going on for atleast 8 years. That means even the youngest of those kids need to be 16, which I think would be Willy and Tenn. But Willy talks about chronic masturbation which I feel like you'd atleast need to be 11 or 12 to do that. And that would be when he started going to the school. Even if we assume he was in his first year when the outbreak happened that'd still put him at like 19. Which is obviously not the case. Kind of a PLOT hole but not a huge deal I guess.
- I definitely regret saving Louis over Violet. After my romantic encounter with Violet I just kind of freaked out and decided well Violet can take care of herself. She was pretty upset, though I guess im happy she still has her tongue. I was kind of confused to see the dynamic between her and Minny. I thought my reasoning for her being stronger than Louis made sense, I hope I can win her back.
- I thought for sure I was going to have to kill Violet in the cell. Or maybe AJ would have to kill Louis, the story about Minny killing Sophia just seemed to set up that there was something that was going to happen. Glad that Louis' finger was the only causality.
- F Lilly. Glad she is dead. Interested to see the aftermath of the bomb. This last episode is going to be crazy and I am so excited/nervous to see how it ends. I am almost thinking we'll actually get a somewhat happy ending. Maybe not with Louis/Violet but atleast with Clem and AJ.

Oh boy.
|
I did enjoy it. Idk if it was the new controller I got but my only complaint was I felt some of the windows to do a command were kind of short. It was a little annoying trying to line something up for the 4th try. Got me a little frustrated.
Biggest complaint was not enough Violet. I guess that is partially my fault for saving Louis in Ep 2. But I literally saw Violet for 2 seconds in the last lunch scene. Glad her and Clem were getting all cutesy because she was the best.
James was a big dick in that final episode. If only he knew that I saved him by telling AJ to kill Lilly. I was a little worried when AJ said how much he liked it, and I was definitely a little worried he was going to kill James, but I am glad that part of the story just ended.
The bridge scene sucked. I told AJ I trusted him to do what was right, and I guess he made the right call shooting Tenn. Louis didn't seem too pissed so I guess he understood. Kind of rough for AJ though. Tenn was a great character and it looked like you could save him at the end? Not sure though.
THEN THE BITE. Yikes that sucked. I thought maybe when you peeled back the boot you'd see it actually wasn't bitten but there it was. That scene with AJ in the barn was cool. Getting to play as both was fun. Even though earlier I told AJ to just leave me to turn, I changed my mind because I always felt bad about Clem leaving Lee, and AJ is stronger and going to be stronger and I felt like he could handle it. Not sure if that was the difference in the ending or not.
The flashback was kind of cool. AJ being trapped in a locker was pretty messed up. I actually would have liked that scene to be a little longer, a little more of a background on how he got there and what had happened. I think that was where she went right after Javi right?
And then he gets the hat. That scene got me good. I definitely scratched out V+M. F Mitty. I was definitely expecting a "The End" after he walked into the group and the gate end and then... CLEM!
IT IS A LITTLE WEAK considering I feel like Lee got to chop off his limb a lot quicker. Maybe it was just Clem seemed so weak after so little time that she was already too far gone. Not crazy unbelievable though. Kind of silly that AJ thought of it but Clem didn't but can't complain too much because Clem is alive!
Going back into the room with AJ and going through all the collectables and get his view on them was actually a lot of fun. And going through the 8 stages of Disco Broccoli. When the camera just zooms in on his face, I was cracking up.
I guess in conclusion, I am very happy with how they wrapped it up. I just wish that maybe that had been the second half of a final episode. Felt really rushed, and besides Louis and Tenn, I dont think I interacted with any of the kids.
End of an Era though. Glad AJ didn't turn out to be a psycho. I was a little worried with the way James was speaking, and how I was always pretty supportive of him killing people (Abel, Marlon, Lilly).
Glad we able to get a true ending. |

Oh man I'm all done. That seemed really short but MAN was that great. I have a feeling this ending is going to have some very mixed feelings but I'm very satisfied with how they did it.
|
- Told AJ he wasn't ready. I was... very iffy when I did this. NORMALLY I would have said he was and I didn't really disagree with any kill he had done by that point. But his Walter White "I like it!" speech was a bit of a red flag and I was worried he was going to do something very dumb if I let him keep it. I'm really curious if Louis lives if he's allowed to make his own decision.
- I added a statue of me to Louis' house. This is a bit of a silly decision (: I was just being ridiculous. I said to add 900 floors too.
- Told AJ to kill me. MAN was I glassy eyed during this and I was definitely dreading it. I knew the gun was gone so I was preparing for an absolutely brutal shot of Clem's head getting split open with an axe. But there's no way I was going to let Clem become a walker.
- I agreed to teach Tenn to be like me.
- Violet is SHAKEN. Apparently 100% players got this choice.... eh?
- James is INFURIATED
- Louis is DEAD
- Lily is DEAD
- Tenn is REPENTANT
- I found all 4 collectibles... waaaaah? That never happens.
What Clem taught me (This is a really cool screen!)
- The first thing you do when you enter a new place is find the easiest way out
- Always aim for the head
- When you have to apologize, be as honest as you can, even if it's really hard
- Eat real slow or you might accidentally burp or fart real bad or choke (Huh? I do not remember this conversation at all)
- It's not nice to take other people's stuff
- If people try to steal from you, it's okay to try and kill them
- Sleeping in a bed is way better than sleeping on the ground
- I was wrong to kill Marlon because he wasn't a threat when I shot him. But Lilly wasn't a threat when I shot her and that was okay. It gets confusing.
- If you have to atone something, it's hard, but people will forgive you
- Whenever you're scared, just remember to breathe
- The monsters won't be here forever
- Sometimes torturing people is okay, I guess
- Doctors can help with your trauma but I think they're all dead
- I thought there were people inside monsters, but that was dumb. There's nothing in them at all.
- Lying can help if you really need something
- You can be happy, or you can be rich. You can't have both.
- Even people who love you your whole life might not trust you with the big things.
- And that can make you freeze up.
THOUGHTS
Man what a rollercoaster. Telltale has been saying Clem's final chapter over and over and over so I went in 100% expecting Clem to die. But all that happening so fast was insane. I really liked the barn scene paralleling the final scene of Season 1 with Clem and Lee. Clem's "death" left me very numb and admittedly I was kind of pissed. I had to take a break and couldn't continue the flashback to McCaroll ranch until a bit later. (On a side note, anyone else notice the random EDDIE cameo of all fucking people? So strange. I wonder if any of those other guards were past characters, I didn't recognize anyone else but him.)
HOWEVER!!! The big reveal that Clem's leg got hacked off, all is well and everyone lived happily ever after... I really, really liked. I had a big goofy smile on my face for that entire ending segment. I thought it was great. And I'm sure people will be disappointed that the entire school didn't get massacred and that AJ didn't have to go through killing his guardian like Clem had to. But this was an unexpected but pleasant surprise. It definitely gives the series closure, which is what we needed. Not a teaser for a sequel that'll never happen with an AJ that's all alone.
VERY curious how our very different games all tied together? James was absolutely furious that we killed Lily and tried to take AJ away from us. AJ went on a Walter White speech about how he killed Lilly because he "likes it", not necessarily to save the group. Which freaked everyone out. James kind of just huffed away never to be seen again. Then we got the choice about AJ's responsibility and I said lolno because I was really concerned about him taking pleasure in shooting people, which lead to him not saving Louis (who still had his tongue) and Louis getting devoured by walkers. |
|
|
Makes me glad that I told AJ to do what he thought. I did like Tenn but he got Mitch killed and Louis/Violet killed. AJ felt confident he made the right decision on that.
I didn't notice the cameo but that is freaking awesome. What a little tidbit they didn't have to do that made it that much better.
Boc, did you have the cave scenes as well? Or was your escape different and tied to Lilly's. Glad I freaking killed her, I feel better having James as an enemy somewhere in the universe than Lilly. |
