"After 10 years and 20 seasons thanks for making Survivor one of the most watched shows on Television. Tune in next season..." the smiling host of the television show said before the screen turned to black. The culprit was sitting on an old musty recliner with a beer in his hand and a scowl on his face. He sat in an old run down apartment with cheap orange light bulbs illuminating the room. In front of him was a coffee table with two day old pizza and 3 more empty cans of beer.

"20 seasons, blah blah blah," he mocked. In a fit of rage he through the television remote at the wall. It hit with a thud and left a chip in the wall. It matched the six others that were all around it. The rant continued. "He thinks he is so perfect and so clever because he hosts a wildly successful show." He tipped the beer can back and took another gulp. "It is really not that hard at all." Jedd reached for his cell phone and scrolled through his favorites before selecting the name "Gerald".

A voice answered on the other line. "Hello, Jedd, it is 10 o'clock, what do you need."

"I've got an idea Gerry, And it is going to be mother fucking big." He threw his headphones in and sat down to start writing.

Over the coming days Jedd put his plan in action. Creating a master plan that looked like the manhunt board, string connecting different ideas. Potential locations included all sorts of beach locations listed which finally settled on "anywhere that has nude beaches". At the top of it all was the concept sentence. His brainchild. "A group of people survi encounter the wilderness."

---

With the plan in set Jedd and Gerry were on all sorts of calls trying to pitch the idea to whoever would hear it. Dozens of calls and frustrated hang ups as if it was a montage.

"Sir, I just don't think your idea is unique enough," Gerald said timidly.

"This is such a spectacular FUCKING idea Gerry, it has to work." Jedd barked back. After yet another rejection Jedd slammed the phone down and stormed out of the room leaving Gerald to man the phones on his own. He paced back and forth in the hall way and continued to mutter to himself reliving his childhood.

"Jedd, why are your grades not as good as your brothers?" "Jedd are you going to play football like your brother?" "Jedd did you hear? 40 million people watched your brothers show." "Jedd why is there a naked alien with tentacles on your computer screen." "Jedd when are you going to get a job." "Jedd, why?" "Jedd?"

"FUCK" Jedd yelled and did an awkward punching motion. He turned around to see Gerry standing with a goofy looking grin on his face.

"We got something!"

---

Jedd and Gerry sat across a desk from a businesswoman. Or at least it could be kind of described as a desk. It was a piece of wood in between cement blocks stacked on top of each other. They were in a very nice building in a downtown setting, however after arriving at the front desk they were led down in to the basement. The room was barely lit. The woman sitting across from them was dressed the part, wearing a nice pant suit and heavy makeup. Jedd could tell she was in the same position as him, untapped potential just waiting for her shot.

"Welcome Mr..." the lady began.

"You can call me Jedd," Jedd responded cutting her off. "And this is Gerry." Gerry opened his mouth to add something but Jedd shook his head to cut him off.

"Nice to meet you, my name is Penny Braithwrite." She said with a smile. "As I mentioned on the phone to Gerry we are very interested to learn about your show. What was it again?"

Jedd smiled and then began with a haughty tone. "We strand a group of average people on an island and see if the Survive. Last one standing wins." Penny winced a little bit at his description.

"One issue with that Mr. Jedd," she braced for his reaction, "It sounds pretty similar to Su..."

"It's FUCKING different. This is Encounter." Jedd barked back. "Have you heard of safety bracelets, the temple of termination..." Jedd grabbed his notes and showed all the different names he had come up with for the various twist and turns that he wanted to see.

"Okay, okay, I think we can make it work," Penny pleaded. She pulled out a lengthy document and a pen for Jedd to sign. Despite Gerald's pleas Jedd signs it immediately. "Very well, welcome to the CMT + Family."

Jedd was excited and ready to go. "Now that we have got that out of the way, where do you think we should film. Some place FUCKING sweet. Jamaica, the Dominican Republic..."

"Well about that," Penny had a sly smile. "We don't quite have the budget for that..."

Welcome to Encounter! A Build your own character Survivor game. This has been a pet project since shortly after ATTWS IV (which was 5 years ago) so it has been a while. The selling point to the game is while it is a competitive Survivor experience, there is also an emphasis on expressing your unique character. Here are some things to note when deciding whether or not you want to play:

- This game will last 40 days. I don't plan on taking any breaks but it is possible, especially with my computer not being very reliable.
- There will be an activity every day. There will be some semblance of a camp life situation on a daily basis for you or your team to decide on to hopefully increase the communication and build the story of the season. These decisions will help frame your characters abilities and play an impact in the challenges as well as the game itself as the journey progresses. In addition it is a Survivor game so there will be challenges and tribal councils sprinkled in as well.
- I will try to limit the amount of time needed to play. Really the only thing that will take up time would be the challenges but I will try to make those manageable and take 20-30 minutes at a maximum. Whereas other days the tribal discussion will likely only take a few minutes.
- Of course with that being said it is Survivor and it is a social game so the more time you put in the more successful you are going to be. All communication will be done on the Encounter Board. You will have a private communication thread with every player that you are able to talk to and only you two, myself, and any viewers will be able to see it. This will eliminate the need of using any sort of messenger for the game.
- This is not going to be a true to form Survivor game. Jedd is not a perfect man, there will be twists and turns and crazy things that may not be true to Survivor form. Everything will be pre-planned and I will do my best to make sure everything is fair and not frustrating. But for those Survivor purists, this may not be the game for you.
- Obviously this game is going to be alias, so do not discuss your characters with other people, and preferably don't discuss if you are playing at all!

I will post a couple more preludes in the coming weeks as Jedd sets on his quest to host a brand new never before seen reality television experience along with the application information.

"So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

"A FUCKING Warehouse." Jedd was not pleased as the car carrying himself, Gerry and Penny pulled up to the site of his brainchild. It was about a 90 minute drive from the closest city. The last living creature they saw was the armadillo that Penny sped over on the highway. The surrounding area was less than desirable. A desert with very little green, the occasional tumble weed blowing by. Jedd could hide his thousands of dollars here and no one would ever find it.

"Give it a chance Jeddy boy," Penny winked. "Don't you trust me." Jedd did not appreciate how friendly Penny had got with him recently. The only person that called him Jeddy was his brother, and he was the biggest dickwad on the planet. The three of them exited the car and walked towards the warehouse.

The warehouse was exactly like what you would think a warehouse would look like cobwebs everywhere, the remnants of shelves that have been rusted and collapsed. The ceiling was lined with glass panels which led the light shine it. For a giant building it was really well lit. There were weeds and vines that had sprouted and covered the walls. Gerald looked at them curiously.

"What was this place," he inquired. "How are there plants growing in here when there is nothing outside."

Penny smiled, "It was an old nuclear storage plant or something." Gerald opened his mouth but Penny ignored him and countinued. "There was a sprinkler system installed for accidents or whatever. The water comes from a deep well. When the place was abandoned the water was never turned off. So it leaks. Water + Sunlight, and who knows what else turned in to this." Penny motioned to a puddle of water on the ground and Gerald kneeled down to get a closer look.

"I wouldn't drink it though. Not potable." She cautioned causing Gerald to stand straight back up.

"I mean I guess its cool," Jedd shrugged, "Still its not what I expected." He walked over to some grafitti. It read "Death To." The third word started with a J but he couldn't make out the rest of it as the moss had grown over it.

"Just temporary Jeddy Boy." Penny rested her arm on his shoulder, a little too close for his comfort. "When the CMT+ blows up we will have quite the budget for future seasons." Jedd's eyes lit up. Penny cupped his cheek. "Just do what you do best."

Gerald, sensing the discomfort of his boss cleared his throat. "Well yes, I think we can make this work. Thank you Ms. Braithwrite. Jedd and I have lots of planning to do."

"Good call Gerry," Jedd did a little shimmy to get away from Penny. "I will make sure despite this shit locale that this is the most drama filled, kick ass show ever."

HEY FUCKERS! We've had applications out for a week and we have not got enough to field a cast. There are spots up for the big $$$ prize.

Check out the Rules and Guidelines Thread that Gerry posted: HERE

Again either PM me on here or discord to express interest and reserve your spot. If you don't know what your character is going to be yet that is fine, it'll just guarantee your spot and also confirm to me that I am going to get enough people to play.

It was another muggy day in the office Jedd had carved out in the warehouse. Gerald walked in with the mail. "Any more applications?" Jedd inquired noticing the letters that Gerald was holding in his hands.

"Umm, no sir I apologize," Gerald replied, "These are just credit card offer letters."

Jedd groaned frustrated and looked at his cast. It had promise but it was not enough. He grabbed the phone and dialed up Penny. Even though she was near the bottom of the list of people he wanted to talk to, she had the resources to get the job done. For the first time in their short relationship however; she didn't pick up the phone. Jedd thought that was very strange.

"Boss you might want to unmute the TV," Gerald gulped.

"BREAKING NEWS: CMT+ IS SHUTTING DOWN AFTER THE CEO PENNY BRAITHWRITE WAS ARRESTED FOR USING THE SERVICE AS MONEY LAUNDERING FOR ILLEGAL DRUG TRADE. SHE IS ALSO ACCUSED OF SEXUAL HARR..." Jedd turned the TV off.

"FUCK," He yelled. "This was going to be my big break." His phone rang in his pocket. Maybe it was Penny giving him a call back? Maybe she had a way to get his show made after all. He picked up the call.

"Hey little bro," the voice on the other end rang. "I am about to take off to Nicaragua in a few days but I hadn't heard from you in a while so I wanted to see if you wanted to come to my mansion for the weekend, catch up. Big news, I am in the talks about getting my own Talk Show!" Jedd didn't know what to say. He put the phone on mute...

"Mother Fu..."

FIN

So unfortunately I was not able to get the cast needed to run this game. I did want to wrap up the story though since I did enjoy a little bit of the lore. Thanks to anyone who read it all. Not sure what is next if anything hosting wise. If there was a certain element or idea that turned you off from playing definitely let me know. I'd like to tweak it and try again, or maybe come up with something else. The in character interactions of games like Lab and ATTWS back in the day are a big part of what makes those games special so I'd like to expand off of that.

I appreciate everyone who applied and I am sorry it won't happen right now.
