For those interested in ratings.
IGN: 9.5 "An outstanding world, great crafting system, strong story and characters and more earn Fallout 4 a glowing endorsement."
GameTrailers: 9.0 "Flawed in serious ways, but playing it is all you want to do"

You playing as the chick? |
Yeah. I always tend to do my first playthrough as a male who looks like me, so I wanted to switch things up. I put a scar on her right eye and gave her some lipstick but those are the only changes. Edited the husband a bunch after snapping that photo tho.

I spent 3 hours playing this afternoon. I accomplished nothing, but did so much.

I was working my way through Lexington when these Raiders on a rooftop started to shell me with grenades and bullets. After I fought my way to the top, I made myself a meal on their cooking pot and prepared to enjoy the sunset.

I have an assignment due at 11:59pm tonight. Going to half-ass it as quickly as possible while watching Amazing Race and then dive into a good long Fallout session.

I walked up on a raider camp that had a boomer, a legendary raider, and a few other regular raiders. I ended up twitching it for a few of my friends, trying to sneak up on the camp.
It did not end well. It took about 5 attempts before I found a good cliff area to pelt them with grenades and my laser rifle. The area was at the perfect angle where the boomer's mini nukes would whiz right by my head but not land near me.

I'm really not looking forward to Dogmeat's scripted death. I can smell it since he's invincible in combat. |
Yeah, it's almost a guarantee. I wish the dog was like the skyrim companions. I accidentally killed Lydia in one of our first battles together and it was a wakeup call to consider how erratic I was with my fighting. There's just no sense of danger when entering battle when you know you'll just have to give up a stimpack to get the dog moving again.

12 hours in and I haven't even considered going to Diamond City. I've started my Sanctuary construction and concentrating on the minutemen / raider clearing activities throughout the land.

I m might have to restart due to a glitch. I can't use the work bench in sanctuary for some reason and I never figure out how to fix it. Is the sanctuary quest line important? |
There's a way to automatically pull up the workbench menu anywhere within the settlement, does that not work too? On Xbox One, you hold select while standing in the confines of a settlement and the workshop shows up.
I think Sanctuary is important since it's the first settlement area, but nothing too important story-wise has come from the missions to build beds, food, defenses. I don't think it has any impact on clearing out other areas and recruiting minutemen.
edit: sorry if that was a dumb question to ask, I wasn't aware of being able to pull up the menu anywhere in the area after missing the prompt. hoping that works at least.

I find myself telling dogmeat to wait A LOT. Always getting in the way of me trying to sneak too.

I don't worry about weapons too much any more thanks to the Settlements. It's much easier to craft a safe or something and put it in "my house" and remember where I have everything stored.
I haven't had a chance to play a ton due to hosting the holidays and then a test my first day back to class, but I really want to just get high enough to get Gun Nut and be able to craft a silencer. My woman stalks in the night and takes no prisoners.
