Oh hey, book thread. Cool!

As one of my new year resolutions, I decided to try to read more books. I got a. Barnes & Noble gift card from my brother, so I decided to get The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Paper Towns.

I just started Perks, and it's pretty good so far! I like the diary sort of format. I've been wanting to read it for a while, but never got a chance to, and it's not disappointed me so far. The main character seems pretty relatable and odd, which I like. I'm only on the first part, so I can't give my full thoughts about it yet.

aw man you could have saved your GC money and borrowed my copies of both of these books.

Eh, I would rather have my own books than borrow other peoples. Plus I didn't know what else to get, so I just got them to spend the money.

"If I Stay" by Gayle Forman.

Very emotional towards the end, with a lot of flashbacks throughout the book. I decided to read it before seeing the movie, which I plan to see soon. I like how the author made it seem like the ending was going to be obvious, but then made that sudden turn around. I think whichever way the book went, I would still have cried.

Well, I was going to read that lol.

I didn't spoil anything, did I? I still would recommend reading the book! The only time I got really emotionally was near the end, and that's cause I'm just a big baby. It's a good read and I managed to read the whole thing in almost a days time. It's a pretty short book.

There's a sequel to If I Stay called Where She Went....so Moose you can borrow that from me. And JJ you can still read If I Stay and then have the sequel to look forward to??

Oh men, there's a sequel? That's pretty cool, but then again I think I would have preferred if there was just the standalone book. I think the way the author left it at the end have readers a chance to imagine their own ending, so I don't know if I'll read the sequel quite yet.

Just started Paper Towns. I'm hoping I'll be done with it before the end of this week. It's a little hard for me to get into it while I'm currently freezing in this office right now.

Finished!

Paper Towns.

At first, I didn't know what this book was about. I was expecting another TFIOS if I'm being honest. The book was a little slow-paced at first, but then it started to pick up. I decided to read it soon after shooting for the movie had ended, so I'm looking forward to going to see it. It's one of those books that makes you think about things differently, and there's a lot of references to books and poems throughout the book. It was p. good.

I'm having trouble getting myself to read Goblet of Fire. Like, I want to read it, but I guess I'm at a boring part, so it's hard to motivate myself to continue.

I'm making an effort to read more books. I've got a small pile to work through and only a small dent put in it so far. I also started a new prescription which has turned my focus all the way up to 11 (it's not Adderall)

The first book I read this year was Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. The title is pretty self-explanatory, a retelling of the life of Achilles told from the point of view of his companion/lover Patroclus. Took me a while to read, but that was more my fault than the book. Her writing is excellent and her other book titled Circe is another on my list.

The second and most recent book is The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin. I read the whole book in less than 24 hours (thanks meds!). I found her writing style similar to mine so it was easy for me to read page after page and lose track of time.

Don't know what I'm going to read next tbh! I have a couple of books from the last time I went to the bookstore, with three more from my trip yesterday so I have many options right now, with a whole amazon wishlist of more I'll order later on.
