"Heh heh, Rok wants to take something stabby..." The gremlin hunkered in the corner eyed the new shinies, carefully observing which weapon was carelessly picked up by the other civilised folk. The creatures' eyes glistened at one weapon in particular, casually overlooked and ignored on the pile, and then to another. There were still so many options left to choose from, it made Rok's head spin!
"Oooohohohohohoho" Rok giggled quietly to themselves, and then louder and louder until the maddening laughter filled the room. The gnome quickly darted to the pile, snatching their prize before sprinting back to the corner, avoiding any attack opprotunities.
"Stabbs," Rok muttered quietly and then repeated, louder and louder, until matching the volume of the outburst earlier, more laughter intermixing in the name of their new weapon. Rok held the shortsword over their head, waving it wildly and with much gusto.
"STABBS! STABBS! I CALL THIS ONE STABBS!"

No one is really sure where Rok came from exactly. Some say that they emerged from a swamp like some kind of fabled cryptid. Others say that Rok was once a normal Gnome child that got lost in the woods and slowly went mad. Either way, they were no longer lost in the wilds and were out in civilization and here to stay.
It's also an eerie fascination by some magic-users that Rok just could not stay clean. Many a party member tried countless times to prestidigitate the creature, only for the filth to attract itself back onto Rok like a dirt magnet. Some theorize this is the power of nature that Rok has claimed as their own, using the filth and pollution of the world to cause damage to their enemies and to much surprise and disgust, heal their allies. If you were to ask Rok, they would respond something along the lines of "Floaty dirty things make Rok go PHEW!" and then observe Rok point to something around their body that just isn't there.
Rok has also been observed to change shape at will, turning into different animals. The transformations seem to be entirely spontaneous and, to some previous party members, completely inconvenient. Some speculate that the thing just tries to cause as much havoc as possible, not caring particularly for the consequences. However there are times where the gnome has shown great wisdom, implying that Rok indeed does possess some sort of intelligence, just either has gone completely mad or chooses to act on more primal urges. | |
