A whole lot of the timeline stuff threw me which really took me out of it at times. I was watching it the whole time thinking...alright..I'll just have to read some article about the timeline after this is over. Which is not really what I wanna be thinking during a whole season finale tbh
NOT THE BEST SEASON! Three highlight episodes for me but that's about it. I was hoping it was all leading to some huge clash here or something profound or a lot of clarity but NOPE! None of that for me
I liked uh..
- Lee's speech. BUT HATE THAT HE DIED! Assuming he died. I think he took a hit to the shoulder in his last shot there so I guess he can be alive if they want him to be, idk. I didn't like how he jumped out after they were safely away. He could've just thrown his gun to the side, he would've bought them the exact same amount of time. I don't really buy that he was just cool with dying there. MEH
- "What gate? Seriously, what gate?" "I don't FUCKING know!" FELIX!!!! Felix is the best Boc, grow up. lol'd at those being like 2 of the 4 survivors of the whole damn show
- Stubbs' talk with Charlotte/Dolores. I liked that bit a lot. Is Stubbs a host?? Was that what was heavily being hinted? So he knew that it was Dolores in there? That's what I got out of it. Everybody is a god damn host
- The Charlotte reveal was fun I guess but whatever
- Elsie dying, thank god. Every review/recap I read praises her as the clear best character on the show. I do not get it. AT ALL!
The list ends there really. There was some other fine stuff but most of it just didn't thrill me very much
I guess I'm excited to get out of the park if only to freshen things up. I feel like a ton of these characters are not gonna come back, but as each one died I mostly didn't care? I was only sad to see Lee and Akecheta go really. I didn't even care about Maeve which is a sad sign, she was so good in s1. Akecheta also deserved much better
We'll see where it goes I guess. Maybe I'll like it all better once I get some clarity on everything that happened, but now that we've hit the reset button of sorts and are out of the park I'm not sure any of it matters too much

Curt are the three episodes Riddle of the Sphinx/Kiksuya/whatever the Shogun episode was? Those would be mine
Kinda reminded me of Mr Robot S2 (though that was def better). Each show had a great S1 with a big twist that was perfectly built up to, and then it feels like in S2 they try to go bigger and better with the twists despite it feeling really forced/not serving the story well. Maybe this show can bounce back in S3 like that one did?? WHO KNOWS. I just feel like it's so far off the rails after this finale |
Sphinx for sure, still my favorite of the season I think
Kiksuya yaw, a very close second. MAYBE my favorite idk. Both great examples of what the show can be
but no I didn't love Shogun world much. I guess that'd be FOURTH idk. The third standout for me was the action packed Les Ecorches, episode 7 I think. A ton went down in that one and it was mostly good stuff. It was cool to see a lot of things converge with a few episodes of the season left to go

Yeah I kept thinking of Mr. Robot s2 throughout it, they're similar shows in a way. Don't forget True Detective!!! But TD's fall from grace was much more brutal
Mr. Robot s2 > Westworld s2 > TD s2
If only they took a page out of The Leftovers s2's book ;)))

I'm a little disappointed in the Charlotte/Dolores twist because it should've landed much better than it did. The fact that the Charlotte we've been watching for this whole season (in one timeline) was actually Dolores the entire time should've been a wayyy cooler moment with more of a build up or something. It's a cool concept but it felt too out of the blue here. I guess it'd be better if you rewatch the season knowing it's Dolores but I don't wanna rewatch this season
It’s a bummer. A unique idea that only a show with this setup can get away with and they mostly squandered it

Delores/Charlotte leaves with five or so brain spheres. Bernard is one, who do we think the others are? |
Almost definitely Teddy
Almost definitely Maeve since that surely wasn’t the end of her story (would be awful if it was)
Abernathy prob? Makes sense for her
And uhhhhh
Idk

How does she get the spheres? Does she have to remove it from their heads?
