Yeah it’s all about when you saw it. I was thinking that when I watched The Fly and Suspiria this week. I’ve seen both of those concepts done in more horrifying ways in recent years but I’m sure Suspiria would’ve terrified me if I was around back then to see it. Or if I just saw it at an early age
The first jump scare I ever remember as a kid was watching Jaws for the first time when they are inspecting the hull of Gardeners boat and his head rolls into the opening of the hull. I think I shart myself that day.
The first horror movie I ever watched was Friday Part V with the kid from Diff'rent Strokes. I was like 4 I think. I use to sleep on the couch in the livingroom back then so I naturally watched TV when I couldn't sleep when my parents were sleeping and even though I was scared of horror movies, I was deeply enamored by that little black boy and wanted to make sure he lived. I was deeply disturbed over his grandfather being thrown out a window with his eyes gouged out.
Anyway I pretty much refused to watch any horror movie until my late teens after that, something I bonded with Shadow over <3 And at this point in my life, I'm not particularly scared of movies.
