This one had huge expectations when it came out and hey weren’t met, I remember personally being disappointed and hardly got into it. Ken Levine is the creative director for the first and third but didn’t work on this one and I remember it showing

BUT these last few days I’ve been reading about the trilogy quite a bit and there’s a solid base of people who not only claim this one is super underrated but say it’s the best of the three. Apparently the combat is more refined than the other two (more strategic over run and gun style) and the story and theme are more subtle than the others

We’ll see, it makes me more excited either way and my expectations are already low from my first play through which is good. Like I said, I remember next to nothing about the story or the characters so it’s gonna feel pretty fresh to me

The whole point of me replaying Bioshock 1 was that I was gonna replay the trilogy and play the DLCs (for the first time) and compare them all while they were fresh in my mind. Here I am continuing three years later! Yippee

I said this back then but 1. Apparently there’s a loyal fan base that prefers Bioshock 2 to the others even tho it’s known as the worst one and 2. I forget everything that happens in it. So this’ll be interesting

Even just the menu and the music again had be immediately hyped I love the Big Daddy/Little Sister dynamic so MUUUUUUCH. Aaand he’s dead Can’t wait for audio diaries and new characters. That was the highlight of the first game, I absolutely loved piecing together their stories and finding out how the characters died using context clues, it was usually tragic or fucked up. I think at the bottom of each post I’ll write who’s tape I found for that stage. First one was BIG KATE “Lamb is watching.” I think that’s the lady from the opening, I forget First Plasmid found. Electro Bolt Mark Meltzer looking for his daughter Cindy that is nooot gonna end well for him. Never does in this series! First brief Little Sister fight. Love the sound design for them. They seem fairly formidable. Not as cool as Big Daddies or Songbird obviously but they’re still p dope Being able to walk on the ocean floor in your suit is sickkkkkk. Visuals look great Short and sweet intro. Good start DIARIES: Big Kate Rachelle Jacques Sofia Lamb Tenenbaum Mark Meltzer Andrew Ryan!

There’s an image here that looks like a reference to The Thing poster! Love this museum bit before the amusement stuff. With the little dioramas with audio stories. This kinda stuff is what the series does best Got my first classic Bioshock jumpscare from this son of a bitch splicer Ugh time for my first Big Daddy fight. I hate killing them :( . I feel so bad!!! Aw you become her new Big Daddy. Cute Nice little Easter egg with a golf club next to Andrew Ryan’s animatronic My first death! My first..two deaths in a row. Protecting the little sisters while they gather Adam isn’t as easy as I thought it’d be. Such a careful balance of being stingy with your ammo and Adam, you can run out of either so quickly Op, there’s our first tragic audio tape death. Nina Carnegle, the teacher who was protecting the kids. Audio tape about how she was slowly starving to death and gave her food to the kids found on her emaciated corpse. Fucked up! And the kids drew things around her body :((( Rescued my first little sister over harvesting her obv. I’ll do that every time. I’m sure there’s gonna be more to getting the good ending than just that the second time around but I’ll def be shooting for the good one Love the fucked up vandalized animatronic Andrew Ryan’s Aaaaand my first crash. Uh oh! I remember people bitching about the remastered crashing a lot but I don’t recall having any issues with the first one. This has run incredibly smoothly for me up til now Oh uh. It restarted the entire level for me. And I was right at the end. Cool cool cool!
