I have never been a big Marvel fan but every time I watch a trailer I get super excited.
It's going to be good I think.
Same p much. I've got hardcore Marvel fatigue but the idea of seeing them all collide excites me, especially since it should be the last time several of them play these characters
Brian Tallerico ★½
Only exists to remind you of movies you liked in the past and prepare you for future ones they hope you like too. It is pure, soulless product with no identity of its own and even the action is dull. The end of the universe has never been so boring.
I thought it was exactly as disappointing as I was worried it would be
It wasn't offensively bad it was just horribly mediocre. With THAT amount of hype and work leading up to it..for it to be so average is such a shame. I've never seen such wasted potential
Throwing unlikely people from the MCU together for the first time is just not enough for me. It can be charming and make me go heh but that's it. That seemed to be enough for many people. My audience fucking LOST it at several scenes like that. Also when Stan Lee was revealed as Peter's bus driver my audience.fucking.HOWLED. They had never seen anything so funny. It was the best day of all their lives, they literally squealed and gave a round of applause and that was just the beginning. It was a single moment that summed up how easily Marvel can get away with this barely passable mediocrity
Also Thor getting an eye back is such a great analogy for what I hated about this. No consequences ever. This movie was all the stuff I hate about Marvel movies crammed into one final act. People were WEEPING at the ending. But...why? None of them except for boring Vision are dead so why are you crying, I really don't get it. People die all the time in these movies and come right back which I can't stand. This movie did that on a grander scale and asked you to care. It's so unsatisfying and meaningless
They should've stuck with the original title of Part I to really remind people that this is just the set up, because that's all it was. Thanos just goes from place to place and gets the stones and that's the only point of the movie. The real sacrifices should come in part two (of the Iron Man/Captain America variety) but until then they really wussed out with this one. I read a bunch of stuff about how it pulled no punches and how audiences weren't ready for how emotionally draining it is. HUH??? The whole movie was one big pulled punch
There were three scenes in a row that I really liked in the middle. I think it was...Star Lord meets Iron Man and co, Thor with Rocket/Groot, and Star Lord again with Iron Man when they were planning. Drax still outshines everyone. I made that post earlier about how there's so much talent in the MCU but Dave Bautista out of all people may outshine them all and it was so true here, he killed it. "How long have you been standing there?" "One hour." He was great. GotG remain the best, their scenes were easily the most enjoyable
I did roll my eyes at yet another hero on hero fight scene that they had to find a way to cram in there. Iron Man vs Star Lord! Spiderman vs ...Nebula! Only good bit was Drax vs. Doctor Strange's cape
