Watched the first two episodes maaaany years ago but never continued. I finally decided to restart and try to get into it. I'm finding it a lot more enjoyable now than I did back then. It's a hard show to even talk about really, it's so....odd. Coming up on the S1 finale now

Also in just six episodes I've decided that Agent Cooper is one of TV's best characters. His wide eyed enthusiasm for pretty basic things around the town is always so funny, he's played perfectly

Mobile so I can't go into it much but the episodes involving Leland's reveal and aftermath were GREAT. Maddy's death was absolutely brutal. Ray Wise played the part perfectly, sad he's gone. That whole scene in the bar with Coop/The Giant/Its happening again as Leland killed Maddy was the most enthralled I've been by the show Getting into the shit territory now (super Nadine is terrible) but I'm determined to finish up and watch Fire Walk With Me before the new season Sunday

That's exactly why I plan on watching it, heard the same thing. Also heard it got very mixed reviews

Between today and yesterday I watched the last 8 episodes of S2 including the dense S2 finale, the 2+ hour Fire Walk With Me, and the 2 episode S3 premiere

Needless to say I've got a lot of SHIT to process right now!!!!!!!

Three parts in and I'm waiting for some of the old charm to come back. We've gotten the weird, but the charm is lacking.

I've read some stuff about how people are really disappointed about the lack of hammy charm and lightheartedness. And the answer seems to be that this is Lynch continuing in the direction he's been going in with his stuff post-Peaks and that the show is gonna be uncompromising in that regard and won't be made to appease people necessarily

I thought the premiere felt like a totally different show in tone/style/direction and was also missing the lightheartedness of classic Peaks, but the more I've sat on it the more I realize I enjoyed it. I think the old tone will start to come back at some point probably when you know who gets outta you know where? But maybe that happened in the episode you watched ahead, don't tell me etc. But who knows. I think it was so well made and interesting enough that I can live with the new direction

However it's a REALLY jarring change after having binged the shit outta the long second season the day before. It's especially super weird to watch all of these characters over and over and then hours later they're 25 years older and definitely look it. It was so odd, it was sorta like when they made older Coop in the S1 dream sequence but the entire cast
