Liked:
- Walder Frey
- Blackfish/Edmure coming back into play
- The Sam dinner scene was awkward as FUCK! Sam busting back in
- Benjen's return
- Mace Tyrell being treated as a joke as always
Disliked:
- The ending. WHO GIVES A SHIT. Why do the writers continue to believe that ending episodes on Dany moments is thrilling? Far too many episodes now (including finales) have ended on the same type of Dany scene told in a slightly different way. It's super repetitive and has felt like stalling with her character for...literally many years now
- Margaery's strange turn. I'm sure she's playing the High Sparrow/Tommen and figuring out a way to wiggle out of this so I'll probably end up liking it. But if she's not then it's pretty dumb
- High Sparrow plot in general, I'm still very over it and it feels like a lame temporary distraction for all King's Landing characters. They need something better to do there
- Arya's story. This has easily been one of the most disappointing story lines for me. It kills me because I love Jaqen and was so excited for his return, but it just hasn't really gone anywhere and now that it's ending it seems to have kinda been for nothing. I was excited to see Braavos, and Meryn Trant's death was great, but very few interesting moments have come out of this. My only hope is that she kills the annoying chick next week and Jaqen reveals that that was her true test or something but that's wishful thinking
NOT BAD OVERALL. This and the last episode have excited me with old stories being brought back to the forefront and pieces moving in the direction that it seems like they were meant to go in. But for every promising new story there's a handful of arcs that feel like they're dragging their feet, Dany's, Arya's, High Sparrow's/King Landing. Really hoping there's some good pay off with those to make it worth it |
